1. *Edit - Power Supplly sold I still need to get some photos of this but in the meantime I thought I'd throw it up to see if anyone needs to expand their board. Here's the link: http://www.spider-engineering.co.uk/music/...sp?id=3147-2678 It's a big board, I've added a shelf onto it to make it far more functional - not terribly pretty but extremely sturdy and well placed for a 'second row' that makes the tap-dancing a shedload easier. Just a couple of holes in the base of the board to secure particularly heavy pedals and the big beefy ass power supply is screwed to it. I can leave the power supply on if you want it, including all the leads that came with it - many of which are modified by me (just splitter cables) to power more than 8 pedals and a couple of 3.5mm jack power conns. Otherwise this is for sale separately. Straight sale is possible but would prefer a trade + cash adjust for a smaller board. MTR DC8DPR Power supply is regulated and rated at two amps - big beefy transformer and 8 9v outs (switchable polarity in pairs of outputs) with each pair of outs rated at 0.5a. Link here: http://www.mtraudio.com/mtrcatalogue.htm There is also a review there - review notes a fixed power lead - not correct as this uses a standard IEC lead (maybe a later version?) which means you can unplug it without having to secure a plug inside the pedalboard case. Pedalboard price is £50 Power supply price is £45 This doesn't include postage - we'll see what arrangements can be made.
2. Guyatone pedals from the mini series in excellent condition, supplied with box and manual. EH bassballs is the silver version that comes in the wooden box, again all pretty much as new. Note that these have been pedalboard mounted - I will remove the velcro unless you want it left on there. None of these came with power supplies but they are all 9v DC (EH is a mini jack connection - easy just to cut off the barrel plug and solder on a replacement). MD3 - SOLD MC2 - £30 posted Bassballs - £25 posted
3. I dare say this needs no introduction! This is very well used (been going strong for nearly 5 years now) but has been on a pedal board the whole time and is therefore in very good condition. I have the original box and manual and I think even the power supply somewhere. For the pedal whores out there, I can put the original rubber feet back on or leave the velcro - I also presume that you are using 9v poweralls and therefore let me know if you want me to dig up the power supply! £200 posted.
4. Barely used - mint and brand new in box with manual. Comes boxed with instructions. £100 Posted.
5. Pretty much brand new - maybe a scratch or two from living in a bag with some leads £30 posted.
6. Nice wheely case for that speaker, cost about £95 - can't seem to find a UK site that sells them to compare today. Pain in the arse to post so would prefer collection or other arrangement in the Midlands/ South-West (Bristol area) but postage can be arranged. £50
7. Pretty much as new (maybe a bit more dusty!), as the name indicates it holds 7 guits/basses. £25 Posted.
8. Everything included with this, excellent condition as only gigged a couple of times. £30 posted
9. Little electronic chord finder, comes with instructions and has been used a whopping one time! (still in original packing) £5 gets it posted.
10. I think the Deep Impact will probably go - don't want it collecting dust when I can turn it into cash. I'll probably leave it another couple of months before the pedals go up for sale as I've got some jamming lined up with my drummer before I move!
11. Thanks all - going to a few shops this weekend to try out the line 6, orange, peavey and hopefully warwick too, I'll let you know how I get on.
12. SOLD! Damn that was quick. You won't regret it sir at this price.
13. I would suspect that it's the cabs that's the issue - have you ever heard a 250w amp through an Ampeg fridge? Trust me it's not about power so much as speaker cone area, although a good quality power amp section is essential - one that is really designed to deliver the peaks, GK are the tits at this. A GK400rb through an Ampeg 810 is just astonishing.
14. Yeah, just nice tone really - good price on that one!
15. That fender looks good - the Eden/Nemesis is a tad too big/heavy. Thanks for the heads up on that, I just wish there was a shop that stocked this kind of stuff nearby. Anyone tried one of the little Warwick amps? I've played the bigger combos and thought they were pretty nice but not the little uns. Something like this: http://www.thomann.de/gb/warwick_blue_cab_60.htm
16. Just to clarify - something that can hide behind/by a sofa, not actual band practise! Thanks for the suggestions. It suddenly occurred to me to check Markbass and they have a tiny 50w amp that needs trying out.
17. Right, I dont get on with using a headphone amp - I just want to plug in and noodle without getting sweaty ears and having a cable trailing! Any suggestions on a practise amp with the following criteria: Small package (like 10" speaker maximum). Nice quality sound - able to pump a bit of volume without sounding cack (like those Ashdown 'perfect' 10's or little Peavey amps!) Controls on top would be nice but I'm already being a fussy bugger. I've mooched a few shops but small practise amps seem to just translate to cheap cack. Oh and budget probably up to £300 ish? Thanks, Graham
18. Pretty much as new - only used for storage and a few rehearsals. Very well padded and a fairly stiff construction means you'd have to spend a lot of money to better this. Marroony red colour. £40 posted.
19. It's done just one flight and is therefore pretty damn mint - I thought it was a great idea but actually haven't used it at all so it's going out with other clearout items! £60 Not keen on the thought of posting this but will entertain ideas. PM me folks - I'll get a photo up later this evening.
20.
Having read the description I was expecting far worse from the phot (although it seems there could be some nasties once the bass is turned over)! How does it sound and play? Chris
Pretty damn good - if I pull my finger out this evening or tomorrow evening then I may even be able to record a sample - will definitely provide some better pics. I may not be doing it justice in the description, but I'd rather it exceeded someone's expectations than pissed them off!
21. Ladies and gents, I give you the Tosser bass (headstock has mock Fender decal with "Tosser" instead of fender and "FUDGING IT PROPER" underneath). It's a home fudged precision with a moses graphite Jazz neck, Badass II bridge and Seymour duncan hot p pickup. The body is nothing to write home about, a cheapy on ebay and I managed to drill right through it when mounting one of the pickups. Anyway, Jaydee guitars sorted the neck pocket and gave it a fret dress whilst I fudged the rest of it together. Right, I got the neck used from a guy who is such a f***wit at DIY that he managed to drill the holes at such an angle that retro-fitting it might prove a little difficult - I just got a new body and drilled the holes accordingly. I took a risk and it paid off on this occasion but I just wanted to be clear on that particular Caveat Emptor! Please note that the shielding is poor - everything is in place but it still buzzes if you're not touching the metalwork. Price for total bass would be £150 + cost of postage. Alternatively the parts as follows, all including postage: Moses Graphite Jazz Neck: £75 Black Badass II Bridge: £35 Seymour Duncan Hot P Pickup: £35 Black 'clover leaf' machine heads (can't remember the make - they came in an orange box): £25 Body: not worth selling unless as part of whole bass - a ceremonial burning to release the stigma of that hole I made could well be in order. For more pics, just drop me a PM - I'll have them for you this evening - please note that there are two black knobs on there now!
22.
The only significant criticism of the amp construction that I'm aware of is here (http://storm.ca/~rheslip/ampmods.htm). Some heater circuit wiring that isn't designed to take the voltages that are being put through it. Phyrexian had a biasing issue with his V8 (http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=291451&page=11). Tony, who was the previous owner of mine, didn't have any issues as far as I am aware so I have no reason to believe the amp is going to be anything other than reliable. You're right about them sounding different to Ampegs matey . Its horses for courses innit? You mean a lot of people rave about them on Talkbass? I don't think people such as your good self are going to start getting as excited about them in the UK somehow.
Fair point - they are just minor niggles that could happen to any amp. I think I'm being unjustly harsh due to the fact that you can take any 80's TE amp, use it as a wrecking ball, then to mop up the Gloucestershire floods with it, keep it as a foot stool for a few years, plug it in and it still works I have to agree, it's mostly talkbass - I don't think that valve amps for bass have ever caught on here for a number of reasons, my personal biggest gripe being that the bass amp never gets mic'd up! I swear to god, if a sound engineer looks at my (Ampeg) V4 and hands me a DI box without putting a mic on it will be garrotted with the mains cable whilst having a spare set of 7027A's inserted in their rectum.
23.
Keep the Mackie, The two Akai pedals and the guitar. Flog the rest and buy a decent quality multi FX unit second hand - either rackmount or floor based. Could I have a price on the Korg Pandora by the way? I love mine and dread the day it finally dies. If I didn;t keep it, I have a few bass playing friends that would appreciate it.
No worries - email your way. Cheers, Graham
24. The Birmingham specsavers lady is really rather tasty (New Street) - an added bonus
25. If I'm brutal I can honestly only see myself keeping the Mackie, and maybe the Deep Impact. Shiiiiit, better start taking photos!
