1. I use a lot of distortion, from this pickup especially. Considering modifying it to have a bar pole guitar pickup in there. Wiring in parallel certainly helped, but my other tweaks are still in progress, a low cut tone pot on the bridge. Plus the wiring is now a horrible mess so I'm starting again.
2. What does the active do? Is it one know sweepable boost like a Thunder 1A? Also, classic new battery, might be a short draining it real fast.
3. I had one very much like that, was fine, neck far too skinny for me. Didn't find much to complain about.
4. Ha, I shot that guy a message asking him to put a headstock shot up, did it cheerfully, so would seem fairly innocent.
5. Runs fine on 9v (I had one).
6. Does your combo have a line out, or tuner out? Might be able to use that to run your other combo.
7. In fairness, I have heard some good and some meh things about Bugera amps, no actual horror stories. Not been impressed with Bugera speakered Behringer cabs (except sheer size of the 8x10).
8. You can do better second hand. You'll probably have to mess with warranty claims if you need the warranty, best of getting a second hand amp and the effort goes to having it properly gone over by a tech.
9. Replace it with one of the same, Eminence Delta 12 is equivalent to the one in the GS cabs, bit of research might find if both are the same. There were some Aguilar drivers for sale on here. Aguilar seem pretty good at sensible cab designs, so probably just ask them directly, you likely won't benefit from using a different driver. The Delta neo apparently goes well in the GS cabs, again, I don't know what the difference is

11. A very smooth transaction indeed.

13.
Let me get this right - you want the depth of the neck at the 1st and 12th frets yea?
Yeah, can see its pretty much precision width.
14. Can you measure the neck front to back and 1st and 12th frets please? Been trying to find the right size necks on a budget bass awhile.
15.
Try a Digitech Bad Monkey. Not too over the top and give a nice grindy edge. You can pick them up for under £30 too.
Heres a great deal on one. I think I used one on the Caricatures recording.
16.
As long as they're well maintained I would n't be overly worried with an all valve head - how many guitarists who use all valve Marshalls/ Fenders etc carry a spare head/combo?
I don't think we should start doing things just 'cause the guitarist appears to get away with it.
17.
Now I DON'T have a valve amp but I do carry a spare - a Crate Powerblock 150w class D guitar amp. It'll give me enough volume to be heard if my amp goes down, and can also cover either guitar amp or power the monitors if any of those went down. I also carry a DI box. It was £49 new and is tiny and light.
Pretty sure they aren't class D. They are great though. They also don't make them, they can be found for around £80 though.
18. Can't believe this isn't up already:
19.
http://www.dimarzio.com//media/diagrams/4Conductor.pdf According to this, wiring in parallel will cancel hum, give you more highs, and an overall clearer sound, at the expense of lowered output sensitivity. However, the pickup seems rated as 7/5/8 for treble/mid/bass by dimarzio, which would leave me to think that it's the usual position of the pup, and not's it's inherent tonality, that gives it most of it's bassiness. So in the bridge position, it should be more treble-oriented anyways. How does it sound?
Sounds dark, like a heavily overwound pickup. Will have to take it apart and see if I can wire it in parallel. Might sort a push/pull coil tap. Not looking forward to delving into the gubbins of this bass again, had enough fun with my mono/stereo switching.
20. Got severe temptation to get a blocked and bound telebass neck from them. I just made it, and given all those options, came to over $500.
21. Cause of a misunderstanding my bass ended up with a model 1 in the bridge position. Not ideally suited, being a trebly position with a bassy pickup. I wired it up the default way, not sure if that is series or parallel, is one of those configurations likely to give me some more top? Other option is coil tapping it, however, since that is the pickup that is going through my drive pedals, not sure if the resulting hum might be an issue.
22.
Indeed it is an L6S - mine's a Kimbara brand, which, if other Kimbara electrics are finding an MIJ Squier Precision for £25 was amazing, but well - I didn't need it... J.
I'll give you £50 for it. Posted.
23. There is usually a heat sink on the back that will get warm. Doubt it will be warm enough to do damage.
24. Thinking of sticking a piezo bridge on this for some more options, but some income is also appealing.
