1. Replied to messages. Tuner and compressor gone. Valve Drive and power conditioner still available.
2. Sell your 8ohm cab, buy a 4ohm 410 cab and keep your existing amp and car!
3. Silddx, where can I get a shoulder cat like yours?! They're cooler than hats (temperature wise)
4. Price drop crimbo bump - £200 for the LH500 and the flight case, collection only or local meet up.
5. Pete relieved me of a Markbass 151p this evening. Absolutely no problems whatsoever. Cheers Pete!
6. Bargain bump! Someone buy this so that I can sell my inferior DTR1000 for £80.
7. 210 on hold Just the LH500 remaining! Had a couple of offers. Drop me a line and offer me something - I also have the Gator flight case up for grabs so would probably throw this in for £230 plus delivery.
8. In the process of replying to PMs. Aye, the 1066 is really versatile. They cost about £400 new and this is in brilliant nick!
9. New rig means I'm separating the equipment from my rack. It's all in very good condition having been kept in the flight case/box. EBS Valve Drive pedal, boxed - £SOLD Fitted with high gain Sovtek valve. Also includes standard Sovtek and UK power adapter. DTR 1000 (I'll miss this) boxed - £PX'ed dbx 1066 rack compressor - £PX'ed All prices include delivery, but if you're local you're welcome to collect from Bristol and I can take a tenner off. 10.
The total lack of clean headroom is all in the preamp stage, the power section doesn't figure into it at all.
Thanks for the comment Mr F. I'm a bit confused though. Preamp stage is controlled by gain and output with the volume, so I assumed that the 1000w would play louder, cleaner? Have I fallen for a common amp misconception? From what others said in the first page of this post I got the impression that a stronger power stage could give a louder clean tone.
11. Thread revival! I'm also trying to decide if 1000W is worth the extra cash. From what I've read, all 500W users are happy with the power. I like the ability to dial in a bit of grit, but also like to play loud and clean. I expect the 1000 would give me a little more clean headroom? Trying one out tomorrow, but would appreciate any feedback members can offer. Ta
12. PMs regarding the 210 and LH500. Trying out a Terror 1000 tomorrow so will see what PMT can offer me and hopefully get back to those interested.
13. I hated them with a passion for years. Probably because they're my age and I'm jealous. Music aint my cup of tea, certainly used to be teenage girl pop stuff. They come across as nice guys when they appear on TV though. They're my fiancée's favourite band. According to the calendar in my kitchen, Dougie plays a sparkly Sterling.
14. I went to school with Malcolm McNulty's daughter. Malcolm later played in Sweet (and Slade, so it seems). He was a really nice guy, and arranged a couple of pub gigs for us when I played punk covers as an angry 14/15 year old. I remember his girl telling me who he used to play for and it not having much of an impact on me - I couldn't name many acts from the 70s in my Rancid/NOFX/Green Day era. My dad got pretty excited though! Certainty influential music now that my playing style has expanded.
15. So PMT got back to me with some quotes for my gear... will probably take them up on a couple of things but the cabs and head are definitely available now. Hartke LH500 & flight case - £200 collection or meet up only Markbass Traveler 115 8ohm - SOLD All this equipment is around a year old. It's not been used for practice, only a handful of gigs, so it's in fantastic condition. I'm in Bristol and would prefer collection. I'll probably ship to any interested parties, but I'd rather drive for a little while to meet somewhere. I don't foresee any time off work before Christmas that will allow me time to have this collected. Get in touch if you're interested and we can arrange something... I'm also selling an EBS Valvedrive pedal, a Korg DTR1000 and a dbx 1066 in the effects forum. Cheers John
16.
How heavy are the power conditioner, tuner and compressor?
Yes, the more I think about it the more I'm inclined to sell the rack mounted equipment and buy a lighter, smaller amp. I'm not sure why I bought light cabs and a heavy amp... bit daft really. Hopefully shouldn't have too much trouble selling the stuff, the LH500s don't seem to last long here.
17. Evenin' bass cha'ers I'm currently using a LH500 mounted in a 4U flight case. I use this in conjunction with a rack tuner, compressor and power conditioner. The cabs I currently use are Markbass traveller 210 and 115. The flight case is too heavy for my little admin arms to handle. I'm also considering selling both Markbass cabs and exchanging for a Barefaced Super Twelve in the near future. I'm utterly lazy and can't be bothered with multiple trips to the car. I rather like having the flight case with the quality separate modules and flashy lights, but would be keen to switch the LH500 to a lighter amp with similar output. Help please - could anyone give me an idea of lightweight (class D?) amps that can be rack mounted? I used to own a Yamaha BBT500 which was alright, but ran full juice at 2ohm (and was rather noisy) I would prefer something at 4ohm. I'm window shopping at the moment, but don't know where to start. Any help/pointers would be appreciated. Cheers then!
18. Thanks for the links/advice. Will have to sleep on this one... Search function suggests buy.
19. Evening folks So I sold my car last week, and the money is burning a hole in my pocket. I know I'll save 100 dollah a month from not running a vehicle, so money spent on a new bass would be recouped in a few months, right? I have my eye on a Fender Aerodyne. Problem is, the model I like is a 4 string, and I currently use a Stringray 5 string. Should I buy this bass? Would restringing the bass B-E-A-D have any wonky consequences? Or.... Should I change the songs in my set to fit around standard 4 string tuning and leave the bass unmodified? Buy a different 5 sting instead? Realise that I don't actually need another guitar and put the money into my savings account? Talk some sense into me.
20. Bass Doc supplied me with a pearl effect scratch place for my SR5 much cheaper than Strings and Things. Brilliant fit all done in time for my next show. It's common knowledge that his custom plates improve your sound. Cheers Howard!
21. Google search, 'crazy bass guitar'. First result http://edge.ebaumsworld.com/picture/skatesnow67/funny_picklez_015.jpg I can't imagine what the headstock looks like, given where the tuning pegs are. (This must be in a BC post somewhere already...)
22. I've just bought a Sovtek 12AX7WB because it's pretty cheap and gets fairly decent reviews. Placing this in my EBS valvedrive pedal in the hope that I can tweak a little more grit out of it. It will be my first time experimenting with vales. If it works then bangarang, more noise. If it doesn't, then at least I have a spare valve. It's also tempting to try something like this in the LH500, but without a gain control this would be less fun, and I'm not sure I would hear the difference...
23. This comes to you from the same seller flogging a Deep Impact for £750
