1. Check out 'three trapped tigers' Really progressive stuff, floats my boat anyway. Also feeling caribou, and deerhoof 'Milkman' is constantly on
2.
only need to take the back off it and to have a look its nothing to serious, you could take some pictures while your in there though!
If the problem persists when I'm home at the weekend ill pull down its pants and take some pics. @ tee really not sure what valves are in there, seems strange to me though that its responding differently to other peoples units.
3.
thats my initial reaction to, whats the valve line up? If they're all 83's i'd try some new vales since one may be a bit buggered
I'm pretty hesitant to open it up. Hopefully a call to ashdown should get to the bottom of this....
4.
That is the most exquisite looking MK1 I've ever seen, with all these layers of veneer, that beautiful top and rear wood and the centerline down the top! Wow. I have nothing to offer, unfortunately, but man, what a bass!
+1 I think that's the nicest bass I ever did saw....
5. Ah ok didn't test the low input much as I presumed it meant low gain. Waiting to hear back from ashdown, ill have another chance to test it thoroughly at the weekend. Working away sucks..... Thanks for your thoughts, ill report back soon.
6. The lb has no gain knob, just high and low inputs. Iv tried both and it still sounds clean, like some frickin cliff Richard bass sound :s Using the westone thunder 2 which takes 2 batteries so the signal should be hot. I'm hoping its the speaker lead, and not the spirit of an easy listening singer trapped inside the machine....
7. I recently bought my first tube amp, the ashdown little bastard. I was finally able to test it on Sunday, when I bought an abm 115 compact cab from the ads here (thanks tom!) Initial impressions are mostly positive. It had a lovely warm clean tone, and the eq whilst not being very versatile fulfilled my expectations. The problem was, I just wasn't getting the drive out of it I thought I would. I'v read on these very forums that other users are getting too much tube break up, weras mine produced a clean tone even with the volume on full! I have already diagnosed a few things it may be. I wasn't using a dedicated speaker cable between the amp and the cab. Could this be it? I now have one on order from gak. Could it be the cab? I know that the recommended 112 cab has lower wattage than the abm. I really don't know enough about that stuff though... With my drive pedal engaged it was a different story, I could hear the tubes singing, the decay really blew me away... I was however hoping I could have some of that with the drive pedal off. Any suggestions?
8. Generally practice in a chaotic rush the night before the gig. Pickled eggs are usually involved, they have been shown in clinical trials to improve concentration by filling the room with a pleasant scent. I'd love a regular weekly rehearsal but its not possible
9. Seeing nick oliveri with qotsa, Halloween in my home town. He was naked, painted as a skeleton standing atop the left speaker stack for most of the gig. Before then I was mostly into jazz and funk bass players, but all of a sudden I decided playing with a pick was not sacrilege but a necessary tool for certain scenarios.
10. hiya im the proud owner of a westone thunder 2 with an xlr out on it. im a little confused by the xlr though..... im guessing it has a balanced out, so im unsure what type of lead i should be using with it and i'v had varying responses from different sources. everything was great until the first time i gigged it using an unbalanced lead. got a really nasty hum through the house bass amp. i borrowed the soundmans balanced xlr to jack lead and didnt get any sound at all so had to just soldier on and cut all the mids and highs from my tone to kill the hum. any advice on the correct type of lead greatly appreciated, thanks for your time lewis
11.
I have 17 lefty basses that I need to shift...
cmon dont leave us hanging like that

14.
Also due to the hole in the middle of my bass, could anyone could suggest a type of pickup for me to drop in there as a cover up?
alembic
15.
I love my Aria, and any suggestions of other Matsumoku guitars to try would be much apprieciated.
i havnt been able to get hold of an sb, being left handed makes it a real struggle. however my westone thunder II was made by uncle mat at the same time, with exactly the same materials and boy does she growl. id highly recomend a westone thunder, especially the neck thru versions. and if you can get hold of the later thunder 3 with magnabass pickups, get ready for serious tone heres a nice porn link for ya thunder 3 porn

17. just got mine today! number 25
18. if you can get hold of an electrix repeater, iv heard they are kingdingaling. i saw battles last year, and the bass player was using one i think. recorded himself in, then was hitting buttons on it and changing the loop length to make some really glitched up dirty basslines. you can hear it on their seminal song atlas, heres a link to some blurb about the repeater Elecrix repeater they go on ebay occasionally, id really frickin like one :S
19. just get really hammered on rider booze, turn the guitarists bass eq up and mime. collect your cheque, and form your own jazz fusion group where you take hour long solos
20. gotta love te pickup placement, growls like hell now iv got the bug though, need more mats :S
