1. If you look here you should be able to find the part number for a replacement cone : JBL Pro and then look here Cimple Spares for the replacement cone price. Might be worth looking at the cost of a replacement driver as well - sometimes the driver isn't much more than the cone and you don't have to spend time gluing the cone into place. Andy
2. A blast from the past - my first bass was a Milestone 1 - assume it is the Jazz-styled one? As I recall, it played very well and sounded pretty good. I gigged with mine for a while before I changed to a short-scale Musicmaster. When I bought mine new (in 1995) they were around £200 so your guess of about £70 sounds about right. Looking forward to seeing how it comes out. Andy P.S. Don't be afraid of doing the spraying yourself - I tried it and it worked out very well! Have a look here : My precision respray
3.
Ta muchly. Brand new "Antoria" bass. Has someone purchased the brand? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Antoria-Cosmos-Bass-...=item4a9fd90905
Owned by Adam Hall now : Antoria Guitars Andy
4. For reasonably cheap and cheerful active DI boxes you could look at the Samson S-Direct or the Behringer DI100 Andy
5. 4U rack case by Logic Systems (reasonably high end PA producer). The case is made from 18mm plywood and has 4U of rack space at the front with a large access hole at the back. Comes with a fitted cover. There are some scrapes and dings from use but nothing major. Rack depth (from rackstrip to back of case) - 550mm - usable depth is probably 50mm or so less to allow for cables/plugs Overall length - 600mm Overall width - 525mm Overall height(including feet) - 224mm Weight - approx 11kg These cases were seriously expensive new. I'm Looking for £50 + post (although collection from Edinburgh would be preferred ) Estimated postage would be £15 (Standard Parcels/48 hour courier) Feel free to PM and ask questions. Thanks Andy
6. Spotted this one : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Marshall-4-x-10-bass...Z300396844468QQ Listed as a marshall 4x10. No badge on front, carpet covered, steel grille. But the badge on the back reads "Model 1940 Bass 8x10" - are we seeing a heavily hacked 8x10 or has someone found the badge in a box somewhere? If it is a cut-down 8x10 the speakers might be useful to someone out there. Andy
7. Case is now SOLD This has been lying in the shed for a while not being used so I am looking to dispose of it. Large flightcase made by ABS Cases in London. This was originally made to order to fit moving light fixtures but has since had most of the foam removed and two removable dividers fitted to be used as a cable trunk. This is a heavy duty, professional case fitted with good castors on the bottom. Dimensions : External length - 106cm External Width - 73cm External Height (including castors) - 48cm Internal length - 102cm Internal width - 68 Main depth - 22cm Lid depth - 7cm Weight - 38kg There are a few scratches and marks on the outside of the case and a little rust on the fittings but the case is in good, working condition. I'm looking for offers around £50 for it and it would have to be collected (I got a quote for courier delivery on it and the delivery was more than the case). I could deliver it around the Edinburgh/Lothian area for the cost of the petrol. Feel free to email me with questions. Thanks Andy
8. I might be interested in selling the S12 subs separately if they are of interest to someone - shipping could be arranged for the subs or the whole system but wouldn't be particularly cheap. Feel free to ask questions or make an offer. Andy
9.
Am I the only one thinking "I bet this would sound great as a bass rig"?
I have tried as a bass rig and it sounds pretty good (and loud - the amp kicks out 1200w into the 4 speakers). Fair amount of gear to lug around as a bass amp though! Andy
10. EDIT 25-05-11 : Subs provisionally sold. Tops, amp and 4u case still available. Hi Folks, Due to the distinct lack of gigging and the fact that I've only used my PA 3 times in 2 years, I've decided to sell it and clear some space in the house! The speakers and rack case have recently been repainted with the correct Tuffcab paint and hence look like new. New Pictures in post further down Spec : Tops (1 pair of): Martin Audio Blackline F8 (not F8+) FREQUENCY RESPONSE (1) 70Hz-20kHz ± 3dB DRIVERS 1 x 8" (200mm)/2'' (50mm) voice coil LF driver 1 x 1'' (25mm) exit HF compression driver RATED POWER (2) 150W AES, 600W peak DIMENSIONS (W) 299mm x (H) 435mm x (D) 269mm (W) 11.8ins x (H) 17.1ins x (D) 10.6ins Weight 12kg Subs (1 pair of): Martin Audio Blackline S12 (not S12+) FREQUENCY RESPONSE (1) 52Hz-150Hz ± 3dB LOW FREQUENCY LIMIT 43Hz (-10dB) DRIVER 1 x 12" (300mm)/3'' (75mm) voice coil LF driver RATED POWER (2) 400W AES, 1600W peak DIMENSIONS (W) 398mm x (H) 571mm x (D) 364mm (W) 15.6ins x (H) 22.5ins x (D) 14.3ins WEIGHT 20kg (44lbs) Amplifier : Crown XLS602 (600w/channel into 4 ohms) Details here : Crown Amplifiers Website Also Included : 2 x Custom made covers for the Martin F8 speakers 2 x Adjustable Speaker Poles 2 x Short 2-core Speakon Cables 2 x Long (10m) 2-coare Speakon Cables Mains Cable for amp The amp I bought new less than 2 years ago and has done 3 shows (2 choir concerts and a school dance show) since new. The original box and instructions will be supplied with it. I'm looking for about £1250 for the whole PA - collection only from Edinburgh as shipping this lot would be a pain. Feel free to ask questions or to make an offer. Thanks Andy Edit : The whole rig runs of a single stereo amp as there are crossovers built into the subs.
11. Price reduced to £125 including UK standard parcels delivery (Insured for £100) or £135 Special Delivery Next Day I'll leave it up here until next week then off to ebay it goes! Andy
12. Having never really found a use for this I have decided to sell it on. Spec : Full Flightcase construction Dimensions - 19" x 17" x 6" (485mm x 435mm x 150mm) Weight - 8kg Bought new in 2003 from Amptown Cases (http://www.amptown-cases.co.uk/) for £236. Plenty of storage for strings, bits and tools. I have used the case a grand total of twice since I bought it - hence condition is very good with a few light scratches from being loaded into the van. Looking for £120 plus delivery or nearest offer SOLD Thanks Andy
13.
The pics in the first post don't seem to be working, any chance you could re-post them?
Fixed now. Andy
14. Bump I'll can also include a guitar facelift (I fitted this to the guitar and then took it off again) and a cream replacement scratchplate (the screw pattern is different to the squier plate - it also has a hole drilled for a miniswitch). Anyone interested? Andy
15. One option is to get a flightcase which uses astroboard rather than plywood - the case is a fair amount lighter. Andy
16. BUMP. I still have these and I'm open to reasonable offers on them, (Just found them in a toolbox as I forgot I had them!) Andy
17. How about H4512 here : Penn Elcom They have a sales office near Newcastle I think. Andy
18. I was fairly restrained this year : In - 78 Precision, Marshall IBS head In and back Out - Eden Nemesis Combo, Squier Telebass Out - Ashdown Superfly, Yamaha BBT210s Andy
19.
I came across a mains lead from NordOst - high end audiophile stuff, that retails around £1920, yes that is over nineteen humdred GB pounds for a mains lead. http://www.nordost.com/productdetail.asp?ProdID=35 Looks cool though with it's carbon fibre-like textured plug and transmits electricity at 86% the speed of light which obviously give you far better tonal response. I am told you can get similar sound improvement by cleaning your plug legs with brasso once a year.
The irony is that you spend that much on the cable from the wall to the equipment but from the wall back to the mains distribution is £20/100m twin and earth cable! Pointless really. Andy
20. Some better photos : Andy
