1.
Probably not the same one. This is the fourth or fifth one of these I've seen - looks like this particular pikey scumbag is just badging up trashy modern P copies and selling them as Ibanez. You will never, ever see a "genuine" Ibby precision copy with that style logo. They stopped making them around 1977, and they all have the vintage "spaghetti" style logo. Serial number (where present) will be on the neckplate, which will also have "Made In Japan" stamped on the lower half, and rosewood boards are very, very uncommon - most MIJ 70s P copies had maple boards. They will also tend to look like vintage instruments, rather than something that arrived in a crate from China last Thursday. Jon.
I suspect it is the same one - same seller, same serial, same description? Andy
2. Interesting that he sold it before, with the same description. Buyer then left negative feedback saying it was a fake, then saying it wasn't a fake? Now the seller is selling it again. 5. Bought my Squier Telebass from me - excellent bloke to deal with, quick payment and good communications. Brilliant! Andy
6.
Bidder look a bit sus. Zero feedback.
Winner looks very bad - 3 negatives and 2 positives over 5 years?, not used account in 2 years? Andy
7. I renewed mine recently with Musicguard. Was slightly shocked to discover that the replacement value of my gear was over £11k! (I do own a few "high end" acoustics which makes up a fair chunk plus a reasonable PA). I also keep a spreadsheet and photos of all the gear with serials etc. Well worth it as I couldn't afford to lose that much gear - wether it's theft, fire, whatever. Andy
8. Due to an unexpected outbreak of sunshine (Sun? in Scotland? in August?) I took the bass outside to get some better shots. Andy
9. I finished the respray on this today and thought I'd share how good it looks! Detail on the refinish are here : Precision Refinish Bass is fairly close to original - the only replacement parts are : Strap buttons (replaced with Dunlop straplocks) Metal Bridge Cover (Genuine Fender - yet to be fitted) Metal Pickup Cover (again Genuine Fender - yet to be fitted) Rotosound Swing Bass 66 Stainless Roundwound strings. Sounds good through my newly acquired Eden Nemesis NC410 combo. Andy
10. Finished (Almost)! After waiting the two weeks for the lacquer to dry, I set to yesterday and started the final sanding and polishing. After soaking the wet'n'dry paper for a few hours in water/soap the progress went like this : Sand with P600 wet'n'dry to remove "orange peel" Sand with P1200 wet'n'dry Sand with P2000 wet'n'dry Leave to cool and dry for an hour Polish with T-Cut Scratch remover. Rub finish down with a soft cloth. The shine that comes up when you follow this through it great - looks really good. Today I put all the hardware and electrics back in - a few solder joints needed fixed and I may need to go back in and put some more foam under the pickups as they are a bit low but otherwise it's finished. Some shiney pictures - Front : Back : Full Frontal! : The project has taken a while but it's been theraputic and enjoyable so I can't complain. Hopefully it'll encourage others to have a go at a refinish - the only specialist equipment I needed was the sanding sealer and P2000 sandpaper, everything else can be bought at halfords (paint, T-cut) or B&Q/wickes (sandpaper) Andy
11.
My present musical project involves a friend and I doing a bunch of acoustic numbers with both of us doing guitar and vocals and me playing bass as well (obviously not while playing guitar); we are also both utilising loopers (well... trying to). I'd like to get a little mini-mixer to use both for house rehearsals and for a bit of live work. This wouldn't be the main PA mixer/amp it would just be a sub mixer for me and something to use as a mixer in the house which will just run into a guitar combo. Is there anything that is good value for money and is there anything obvious that I might overlook when picking a mixer? If you are doing this yourself any insight would be useful.
At a reasonable budget? - I use a Mackie DFX6 mixer for some live gigs and it's pretty good - 4 mic inputs, built-in fx, 2-band eq on channels plus a small graphic. I paid £99 for mine new though the normal price seems to be about £119. Andy

13. New picture without the coffin! Andy
14. BUMP - My precision should be finished this week so I'd like to sell this one on rather than it sitting in it's case! Andy
15. Bought some acoustic G**tar strings from Eric. Quick delivery. Top Bloke! Andy

18. One cab traded so one cab remaining - the cab and superfly have been traded for a combo so looking for a straight sale, no trades. Any one interested at £160 + Post? Andy
19.
I've missed something along the way. Why (partic on Ebay but also in the 'for sales' here and in other places) do sellers only give the first couple of digits of Fender serial numbers?? Not just on vintage models either - can't figure it out. There must be a sound reason but I'm always tempted to think that if they withold information from me they're less than 100% straight. Obviously that's not the case because it's so widespread inc folk with excellent reputations. Sorry to be as thick as a whale sandwich but I just don't get it.
I suspect that most people only quote the first part of the number to prevent fraudsters using the number to sell a fake. Andy
20. I would usually suggest Jimmy Eqypt (who part-owns CC music in Glasgow) or Jimmy Moon (also in Glasgow). Jimmy Eqypt is good - had a few things repaired by him. Website is here but seems to be offline currently. Jimmy Moon is a custom guitar maker and tech so I would imagine he would be able to do the painting for you - his website is here Andy
21. As an idea of value - Vintage and Rare have a 71 Musicmaster with a stripped finish and 1 changed Capacitor at £395. The value of the musicmasters seems to be very low currently (I've seen the Squier ones go for around the same price as a 70s Fender one!) 71 Musicmaster - Vintage and Rare Guitars Andy
22. I've seen quite a few late-70s musicmasters selling for £250-£400. Few seem to go much over that. Try : Musicmaster Bass Andy
23. Try putting the serial number into google and see how many hits you get! Looks like the usual scam precision. Andy
