  1. Anything is consider, I use to own a RB700 2x10 combo and that amp is very loud but sold/trade it due to the weight of the combo. Does the MB200 only have a single gain know to adjust the overall level?
  2. I'm pairing the amp with my BC 212. The cab is well enough to handle the gig I'm doing, i don't need massive fridge behind me and i try to reduce the amount of stuff we lure on each gig. I use to own a Little Mark 250 (Made in Italy) which i still kind of regret to sell it. I guess the backline model is the same but made in far east i guess?
  3. Currently using the Ashdown LB30 with TC BC212. Amp sounded decent but lack volume without dirty sound, so I decided to look for a second amp that could handle certain gig when the LB30 is not enough for backline setup and no PA support. I have come down to the following due to budget. Ampeg PF350 TC BH25 Fender Rumble 200 Little Mark Backline 250 I was thinking about buying a old trace elliot amp head for dirt cheap but the weight might put me off and these micro amp looks decent for the budget and power. Will they be loud enough to compete against a drummer (not uber loud but could get abit loud sometimes) and 1 guitar with valve amp or I should stick with the trace elliot deal and man up about the weight? lol
  4. If my back wasn't sore and i have some muscles i think this would be good for me lol. I've try lift the head on my own and i couldn't even carry the thing.
  5. The guy reply me and he said the amp is 200 Watt with power and pre amp all in the case. Just need a cab to connect to the head. I guess this will be my solutions. Carrying thr head is better then carry heavy cabs lol.
  6. Was wondering have anyone got any details on the old Trace Eilliot amps. I think the model is GP11. I'm looking for a cheap amp head that will do the job for me if my LB30 is not enough for the venue without PA support. I can get hold of one for like £60 ...... the guy says is the early 80's model.
  7. First those jack/XLR is speakon with jack i take it. I always have the impression that the amp runs 550watt in 4ohms. The 2 speaker connection means each one connects to a cab that that is 8ohm or lower like 16ohm etc. I would imagine you can just plug a 4ohm cab into one of the connection and it still works fine.
  8. The thing CTM 100 is way out of my budget right now and money is either tight or not much to spend since me and my wife invest to buy a house instead ...... I originally had a BH500 and two BC212 cab which it works nicely and then i needed to down size due to space at home and i'm not actively doing much gigging so I traded the BH500 and one BC212 for the LB30. Lovely amp but i think i need to start looking what else i need for gig without DI support. Either sell the BC212 and look for a better cab which i don't think thats the problem or scout around in the use market for a 250-500 watt head. I think i can afford to pay 200-300 tops. Was looking at the Ashdown Mi bass 220watt.
  9. With Di support in certain venue, the rig is fantastic but without di the amp is not enough for loud rock band, unless i use 8x10 cab theb it might be different.
  10. I'm start thinking about buying a micro head. Not sure do i want to buy 500watt into 8ohm cab or 250watt in to 8ohm cab.
  11. Done the gig last night on the LB30 with the TC BC212 cab. Mix feeling about the tone and volume. First I had the volume about 12.00 - 1.00 o'clock position and the volume is plenty enough but the tone is warmth but dirty. I would prefer a much cleaner tone. If I swap the valves to less gain that means I will get much cleaner tone but volume drops. Looks like I need to add more cab to make this work. I feeling like my tone is lemmy style which works on some song but not all. When playing some quiet songs with light touch the amp sound fantastic and clean. Only get dirty when I start picking the strings heavily.
  12. I did contact Roland in Salford about checking the amp out, the gig is on Saturday and I can't do it till next week so I'm taking a gamble to on Saturday and hope it won't fail on me. The amp was purchase new and I don't use it at home so it should be ok.
  13. I think you are right, I am start to over think the whole concept of valves. The more information I see the more I start thinking about changing etc. The amp probably work fine to behonest and will last a decade like you mention. Is good that I know more now and hopefully I can sleep through this tonight and wake up tomorrow and not planning to change any valves etc.
  14. Any particular reasons why the preamp tube use one 12ax7 and 12au7? One is high gain and one is pretty low gain.
  15. The reason why I ask this is because I'm doing a gig on Saturday and I know the LB30 with my BC212 can handle the venue because is a small venue in a social club place. I don't usually gig on my LB30 because in most places I either DI straight to the desk or use someone else amp on stage. I've got a feeling my LB30 will sound lovely for the gig but for some reason I don't trust those valves until i replace all of them with the new ones. This is because the valves come stock with the amp and not sure how it was treated in the shop before I bought it.
  16. So does the preamp valves effect the break out level? or is the power valves that effect this? I would like the amp to break up much later then early. 40% drop in gain on the AT7 means volume level decrease as well?
  17. Thanks for the information, I will look it up and try understand the theory behind it. Is like a whole new thing i need to understand.
  18. I'm all new to Valve. Currently using a LB30 and had the amp for some time now and I fancy to change the valve for a set of new ones. At the moment the valves is the stock valves that comes with the bass and my LB30 is the made in china version. On the Ashdown spec sheet it says: Pre-Amp Tubes 1x ECC83 and 1x ECC82 Output Tubes 4x EL84 Their are so many valves in the market but I'm not too sure which one shall I look for.
  19. ARe you interest on a trade? I've got a Musicman Bongo 4 HS to trade.
  20. Too bad you not looking for a trade, I've got a Bongo 4 HS to trade.
  21. Interest on a Musicman Bongo 4 HS?
  22. Shame this is not the fretless version, otherwise I would be interest of buying it.
  23. I don't think you can go wrong with a Fender highway bass. They are quality instrument. If you ok with the nitro finish then is all good lol.
  24. You mean something like this?
  25. I use to have one of the Harley Benton 5 string fretless acoustic. They are ok but nothing fantastic. First the ACB need setup and the fretboard need doing as well (at least on my) to get rid of rattle/buzz. The pickup and electronic is ok but the B string is weak even when plugin to an amp.
