1. Yes it was fine, the heaters ran out of gas early on which probably did me a favour, there is a picture in the db porn thread, thanks for asking
2. I can believe that mate, I never did a try bass through it, did you?
3. You don't need the key info for tabs.....I'll get my coat.
4. Well actually NYE I started with the Jazz and some DB for the first set then used the Stingray Classic5 for the second set with a few on the Jazz and DB Saturday night was 50/50 Jazz and my 2010 Blue SR5 with another band that has no DB stuff, I am just packing the van for tonights wedding gig and put the DB, the Jazz and the Black 2007 ceramic equipped SR5 in there so the Rays and making a come back
5.
When it comes to acrylic instruments, this has to be the best thread on the net... grab a cuppa. http://www.tdpri.com...nge-thread.html
I thought from the first pic it was going to be a total pile with blood splattered up it, but, Oh was I wrong, Jeez!
6.
Where was this jam session? Heaven?
'twas but a mouth harp and if heaven sounds like that I am glad I will be heading downhill rather than up!
7. Little update- I have fitted velcro to all my pedals etc so they will sit on top without falling off like the DI box did during a gig a few weeks ago and killed the sound as it pulled the leads from the FX loop! Black lead for double bass which routes via the Fishman EQ and the AB switch, needs FET channel on the amp selecting and mixing to suit. Green lead for electric basses into the AB switch, FET channel for Stingray with onboard EQ set to suit, engage valve channel and that brings in the Behringer BDI21 via the FX loop only on valve channel, for unlimate full on take the roof off hit valve channel with the Stingray so it goes via the BDI and the valve Got a wedding gig later today (I know, a monday?) to try it all out....
9. I was going to say that I could not see it very clearly but I think you would all have seen straight through that one?
10.
Don't tempt me. I've even got the black polo neck and grew a goatee over Christmas.... damn, I've got GAS now Nice.....
Well you should check out some Gedo basses then, loads of us here have them, I am sure that will cure your gas for one....or maybe make it worse...either way have a browse around the DB section on here, Lol Jazz.....
11. You get constant updates of exactly where it is all the way until its lands in the UK then it becomes a lucky dip, also I have never known a company as good as Thomann for packaging , what did they do wrong?
12. Good work Jose, I bet it will come out nice, I'm not sure what the Classic neck finish is but it's not sticky like some, that said I dont notice my Jazz being too bad either. My normal Rays are filthy!
13. Calling Rick's fine 52..... Does nowt for me personally. GLWTS
14. Lol, the harp player at a jam I used to frequent used a large tweed covered bassman combo, it was the biggest amp on the stage, bloody racket!
15.
Manufactured from lead?
Having played a 15lb 70s Fender that would be about right! Someone in the porn section has one over 18lbs, 18lbs!!!!
16. Even at 259 for a regular one it would be a steal, a deluxe for 218, brilliant!
17. The traditional Fender bass amps do nothing for me, even as kid I remeber seeing stuff like that in the second hand shop, or junk shop! Lol
18. The funny thing is I would buy a Fender amp if I knew it was just a rebranded shuttle, once a few had been sold to forum members and we had looked inside they could well have been doing alright with them, then again £250 million in debt or whatever it is would need a few units shifting!
19. Bargain of the year and the year has only just got started! £218 crazy
20. Were Genz amps in any form of competition with anything Fender made? I think more likely they wanted some of 2) but either dropped a bollock and did not pull it off as planned or ran out of cash to implement it properly with the new rumble not being a match for the old Genz, a simple redesign of the facia was all that was needed to keep the Shuttle and the Streamliner models on the shelf but with a Fender logo on it.
21.
Just a quick response to the comments about reading; to be a proficient sight reader takes years and is a skill that needs constant attention.
As I said, I cant sight read but I can read and enjoy books in notation, just slowly. The sort of theory required to look like you know what is what is mostly in notation ime. I'm the same Mel, 2 hours with Jake can get me much further than hours looking at a screen or a book, that said again having Jake teach me what is on a page of the book for me to learn then gets me to understand the next few pages on my own until the next lesson, I'm due a lesson actually.
22. Flats on a ray sound massive,I don't know why more people don't use them, I might get some myself! No idea which brand to use though but the ebmm ones come well regarded afaik?
23. I've tried to combine three subjects in my lessons with Jake Newman, I started mainly for double bass lessons but I have a proportion of the lesson on theory to relate the practice pieces to, scales for trying to learn where the actual notes on a blank neck are for example, because the text books are done in notation by association my reading has improved (a little) our own doddy taught me to read in the first place about four years ago. I'll never be able to sight read and never need it to get a gig but understanding the theory has been easier being able to read. A good teacher should get you going with something suitable but be warned, for everything you learn with theory you will have two new questions! My ability to jam has improved loads since learning more theory which sounds like what you want to do,I can read a chord chart and add a few extra notes in knowing they will work before anyone has struck a chord, it's all smoke and mirrors but it looks like you have extra powers, lol Good luck whichever way you go with it
24. Hankering for some jazz?, fancy stretching yourself?,Hmmm sounds like we might have a promising DB newbie if you haven't gone down that route before?
