Some surprising results so far in the 'pick our next three songs' poll. Probably not surprising that Young Americans is favourite, but I really did think Breaking Glass would do better than it has. Also, Sister Midnight in second place? Given that Bowie only performed it on the Reality Tour, I didn't think it would be that popular. This is why I don't gamble

WEBFF isn't one of them this time around, but nothing is off limits, with the exception of The Laughing Gnome 😀 Actually, after this morning's band conversation, I don't think we will be doing She's Got Medals anytime soon either. Sorry Andy_L 😬 I'll have a word with our keys player. He's a music teacher and he's all MIDI'd up, so I'm sure it would be do-able.

After two days, it's fairly clear which song is going to come out on top, but there are only a couple of votes between 2nd, 3rd and 4th places. Now sold out. You can still turn up and enjoy the food and alcohol in the grounds of Hylands Park, but won't be able to get into the gig, although as it's outside, you'll still be able to hear it 😀

Ticket update.

As part of the Sounds of Summer Festival at Hylands Park, Chelmsford this year, we are playing the Thursday night. Don't be put off thinking it's a late finish on a school night as it concludes at 10pm. The organiser of this event is a long time Bowie fan and we've put together a great set including a new opener, some of our favourite rarely heard Bowie tracks plus a few we haven't played for a while. As of this morning (3/7) there are only 17 tickets remaining. [/quote] Yes, you're probably quite right. I haven't watched the film for a while. Show tunes do quirky things for a number of reasons. I've just mapped out the bass part to 24K Magic. That's a load of fun to play as well. Apparently we're using this version as a template.... http://youtu.be/KkupLU5kdTc ....which does things a bit differently from the studio version. I don't think Jamareo played on the studio version as it was all synth, but I really love his playing on this. Some great little fills against the drums too.

I've just been given my batch of songs to learn for big charity gig I take part in every year. I have no say in the material or who I'm playing with as that is all sorted out by the musical director. Good job too really as it's a huge undertaking and with four different band line-up's in the show, it's a right headache to organise. It really is great fun as it's never the same line-up and I kind of like being steered towards playing stuff I wouldn't normally do. The purpose of the post was just to mention one song in particular, but I may as well give you the whole set: Band A Cake by the Ocean Skin Galway Girl Rude Wake Up Boo A Design For Life Don’t Look Back in Anger Common People Band B 24K Magic The Other Side Play That Song Pretty Young Thing Beauty and The Beast (duet) All That Jazz Diamonds Are Forever We Go Together +1 more song to be added Band C Lucille Runaround Sue Shake, Rattle & Roll Jailhouse Rock Queen of The Night Ain't No Other Man Crazy in Love It's Raining Men Encore Band Roll Over Beethoven Freedom Rocking All Over The World So, I'm playing bass for Band B. I've just learnt We Go Together and it changes key after four bars! It never goes back to that opening key after those 4 seconds. Simple tune though and fun to play. P.S. Who is Jason Derulo?

This has popped up on the Rickenbacker FB page recently and I quite like the look of it. More interestingly, there is a pink one on the bench behind it, surreptitiously placed no doubt.

I'll probably just leave that pickguard on the Flea as the bass is very much suited to their set. I also took my American Jazz Deluxe which was tuned down to Eb for Poison Ivy. So much easier to play the song that way.
