1.
I hear rumours that Peter Gabriel has a film of it, but then again Mike Rutherford's said both "I'm glad it wasn't filmed, it was a bit ropey" and "We should have filmed it in hindsight" (paraphrasing both).
I've heard the same rumours. I think it is, or a version of it, under lock and key at The Farm. I would be absolutely staggered if there wasn't some video of it somewhere. There appear to be no shortage of photo's from the day and it appears more than a few have the audio which has been "remastered" so many times I've lost count myself. I think the band were unanimous that it wasn't perfect, but I don't think anyone expected it to be given the technical aspects of their work and the time frame they had to get it together. Maybe one day.
 2. As a result of the Talk Talk thread where I cited the above gig as being the first time I saw them, it got me thinking about the reason I was there in the first place i.e. to see Genesis. Accepted that it was a few years ago and we weren't all walking about with iPhones, but I find it strange that there is no video anywhere, that I can find at least, of Genesis with Gabriel. I know the band weren't keen on it seeing the light of day, but it's been nearly 35 years since the gig for goodness sake. Who is going to bothered now? I used to be quite active in the Genesis live recording community and there were rumours that there was footage somewhere. I for one would love to see it. I have many differently mastered versions of the audio in various formats, but the video remains elusive. Does anyone here have any information as to video existing or any other recollections of the day (other than it rained all day).
 3.
I think we are too used to BC prices. He's got overheads etc.
Yes, I really don't think we need to revisit that and it wasn't my intention by starting this thread. I'm not a Status expert and thought I may have missed something. Having thought about it, I believe I can see what happened. There is a limited edition S2 also for sale @ BD for 5,250, which as I understand it is cheaper than its new price. I think someone probably copied that add, changed the photo/details and forgot to change the price maybe?
 4. Am I missing something really obvious here? http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Status_S2_5_Black.html A 2015 Status S2 5'er with bolt-on neck in satin black with side & front LED's - £5,250!
 5.
Clutch are doing a uk tour in December and playing Cardiff again. Cant wait!
Just bought tickets for The Roundhouse on December 15th. It's not 100% clear whether Valient Thorr or Lionize (or both) will be supporting. All I can say is that Lionize were fantastic when I saw them a few years ago. I would urge anyone to check out their album Jetpack Soundtrack.
 6.
I've not heard of this album before. I'm guessing you've seen it's streaming here? http://es.musicplayo...7.html?mobile=N Clutch are doing a uk tour in December and playing Cardiff again. Cant wait!
I've seen it supposedly streaming in a couple of places, but have yet to find a site that it works on. Having said that, I'm not sure I've tried the one you suggest, so I will give it a go. Thank you. I did see this set for sale a while back, but dithered too long and it sold. I'm forever kicking myself about that.
 7.
I thought at first the clutch had gone on your van...... More haste, less speed when i read methinks.
Ah yes, I see what you did there
 8. Does anyone have in their possession a copy of Clutch's album Live At The Corner Hotel? Ideally I would like to buy it, but I would settle for just being able to listen to it. It's the one album of theirs I don't have. Any help would be appreciated.
 9.
I think it's good that you were initially mostly focussed on material from one era, that's better than spamming the decades IMO. Have you thought of going further and doing the whole of Spiders, or Hunky Dory or Aladdin Sane? They each hang together so well and each makes pretty much a complete set ? LD
Our sets have been weighted more to earlier material, but as mentioned before, we do have something from almost every album now. We have discussed doing a whole album, but Ziggy seems almost too obvious. We were thinking about doing Station To Station, but then Earl Slick went and did it earlier this year. We've spoken about doing maybe Low or Heathen. We have a meeting coming up soon. Who knows what will come out of that!
 10.
Your could always add some of his collaborations to your set, just to mix things up a bit; how about "Under Pressure" or "Without You I'm Nothing"?
We have done Under Pressure already and it will continue to be in the set for as long as we can convince the wonderful Natalie to come along and sing it with us.... https://www.facebook.com/tony.perry.351/posts/10153809579622157 Nothing else has been excluded thus far other than the previously mentioned The Laughing Gnome and African Night Flight. Without You is a distinct possibility, but there are couple of standards and a few guilty pleasures that may have to be addressed first.
 11. In an attempt to balance out the general negativity of the Bowie Proms thread, I thought I would update this one. We played The Bassment, Chelmsford last Friday (29/7) which was incredibly only our fourth gig in almost two years; but what an atmosphere. I haven't enjoyed a gig so much in a long, long time. The ceilings are so low there that I couldn't wear my hat - and I'm not a tall guy! Sadly we didn't record the gig as we usually do, but our fans did capture a surprisingly large amount of the show on their mobiles. Here is a little gem that I had forgotten we'd had back from final mixing of the April gig at Chinnery's, Southend on 2/4 this year. It's the opening track from the Reality album called New Killer Star. It really is an absolute joy to play. Simple, effective and also gives me enough space to sit back and enjoy some of the wonderful sounds coming from our guitarists. I hope you enjoy. Back on topic, the set is ever expanding and we have nearly covered every album by at least one track. I think the exceptions are Pin-Ups and Diamond Dogs. There may be one other album which escapes me at the moment. Our next gig is in November and we will be using the time from now to learn another 7-8 songs.
 12. I thought I had created a topic for this, but it appears that I didn't! It's gonna be a hot one.
 13.
As a covers band I think we'd be putting a stop to it right at the '200 mile round trip for 40 minute slot' point.
Probably should have said there was a little more to it than that. As mentioned previously, initially it was an hour slot, before the headline, with a promise of a club gig the night before and we would be put up somewhere overnight for the Saturday gig. This was as a favour to one of the band members who's brother organises the festival. Unfortunately the Friday blew out as I couldn't get the time off work. The majority were keen to do it and who I am to argue. I'm the dep after all.
 14. More apologies from the management have been received today. However they managed to get themselves into the situation, it's a little annoying that the band before us and the one after allegedly had to cut one song each and we had to lose three. It's a shame as our lead had the audience in the palm of his hand getting them to engage and sing along. What's done is done I guess, but it's always a pleasure playing to that sort of crowd, so who knows, we might be back :-)
 15.
Yep - we had one a few weeks ago. A big do, and... no stage manager. Complete chaos, and it turned into a war of attrition between everyone involved. No fun.
There was stage management there. Loads of them in fact. They just weren't doing a very good job. Behind the scenes - brilliant. Up at pointy end - rubbish. Different people I think though.
 16. So, a band that I dep for played the Witney Music Festival yesterday. We were booked for an hour slot prior to the headliner in September last year. As time went by, we were bounced down a slot and a month or so ago were informed that we now only had 40 minutes instead of an hour. Given that it's a 200 mile plus round trip for us on the day, what enthusiasm there was had started to wane. So, we all get there in very good time despite driving through intermittent rain showers all the way and it's overcast on arrival, but mainly dry. Access, parking, gear storage, toilets, VIP area etc were all faultless. Surprise surprise, the show is running late. We are supposed to go on at 1940hrs and we're now on at 2000hrs, but "Don't worry, you'll still have your 40 mins'. Yeah right. So we start at 2000hrs and almost immediately we're told from the side that we need to drop one song. OK, so out goes one of the two new ones and we carry on. 20 minutes later, halfway through a song with another two to go, we're told we have five minutes left. So, we finish that song and start the next one thinking we'll stop, the crowd will ask for more and we will oblige as the bands before us had. No problem. Wrong. We start the penultimate song and the stage management kill the PA and tell us to get off. Our lead makes it quite clear what has occurred and the crowd boo the stage management. By this time the band have the right hump and there's no going back, so off we go. To put this in some kind of context, the band before us were a really good outfit called Crowd Company, but ironically the crowd did a bit of a disappearing act when they came on which was a real shame. I thought they were great. Nice Sadowsky by the way if you're on here my friend. Being an 80's covers band, it's fairly easy to whip the crowd up again in preparation for the last two acts of the night, which I think we succeeded in. The last thing you want is a negative moment for the crowd but the stage management delivered that spectacularly. Once we were off stage we had 101 people tripping over themselves apologising to us to the extent that the organisers acknowledged the stage management had f***ed up big style. How difficult is it to stick to a schedule? I've been in the middle of it time and time again and it very rarely happens how it should. Anyone else had similar problems? Anyhow, here was the view from my office mid-set yesterday, before it went all Pete Tong.
 17.
I'm a huge Bowie fan and that was excellent. Like someone said i was to busy listening to the music that the VID just seemed to work so well it flowed. All worked very well together and band sounded tight. Can't fault it and at zero cost to band there's no downside whatsoever. Well done to all Dave
Thanks Dave. I'll let Sophie and Louise know.
 18.
Excellent on all fronts!
Thanks very much. The You Tube video has been viewed just over 500 times in less than a week due in no small part to many hits from Basschat. The deadline for counting is next Monday (6/6/16) so keep 'em coming if you can
 19.
Fabulous version! As a life-long Bowie fan (and still in a state of mourning to be honest), that has brought a smile to my face this morning.. Particularly because it's a Bowie tune that doesn't get much attention compared to all of his hits . Whereabouts are you based by the way?
Thank you so much. I'm really pleased that a fan feels we did that song justice. We're in Essex, but have plans to journey further soon.
 20.
Thanks for that. I've enjoyed it a couple of times now. A highly respectable tribute to the late great man himself. The video should prove to be excellent promotional material for your band too. Tell them to focus on your hat a bit more next time though. Heeheehee.
You know, I should have taken a photo of the mountain of clothes we took to the shoot. I actually took two hats and forgot to wear even one of them until right towards the end!
 21.
Really good band, IMO. Bowie 'crooning' off to a tee, good rhythm section, and the Adrian Belew guitar parts done really well! I didn't really think about the video much, but maybe that's a good thing as I was just concentrating on the band and the music.
Thank you for taking the time to listen and your kind comments. If you like the Belew slant in that, then have a listen to this which was straight off the desk from our last gig.... 22.
Great job.
Thank you.
That guy makes it all work..?????
Yes, he is rather good isn't he
 23.
Good tone on Let's Dance. Now I must get a real Ray to add to my Ray 34. Those Beatle boots look great! Ask the singer if they hurt his feet? Where can I buy some (I am Stateside) ?
Thank you and yes, definitely get another 'Ray You can never have too many of them IMHO! Regarding the boots. I have made enquiries and they are very comfortable apparently and were purchased from here.... https://underground-shop.co.uk/product-category/footwear/winklepickers/ They have quite a selection!
