1.
I always use imgur.com.
I'm converted. Dragging all my stuff off PB right now.
 2. Thank you very much one and all. I'm off to add some proper pictures to my thread
 3. I still can't get it to work with PB, but that photo I've just posted (of the rear of the amp) I copied the Imgur code straight into the comments box with the lightswitch flicked to code, then flicked it back and the photo appeared, even before I posted it. Doesn't appear to work the other way around though!
 4. Referee! OK. I'm going to look into the plug-in issue - I may be some time!
 5.
Hope you don't mind - I had a bit of a nosey with your link & it does direct to the pic, but for Pbucket it's a big pic - nearly 2MB? Might be something to do with it, though I'm no expert.
No bother at all. Just a snap I took on my iPhone of the amp I have for sale. I presume with that link information you cannot post that pic either?
 6.
That's because your new Mac doesn't have Flash installed. There's a little .swf (Flash) element on the page that automatically copies the contents of the link field that you click on, into the clipboard of your computer. IIRC without Flash installed you can't even select the link let alone copy it. I always copy my links from the thumbnail view in the album, which doesn't rely on having Flash but you do have to manually copy the code (either using command-c or from the edit menu). I don't worry about the link giving away my album, because I have a separate Photobucket account just for use with Basschat.
Just trying this. I have all the thumbnails in the album on screen. Which bit do I copy?
 7. " class="ipsImage" /> Nope. Doesn't like Imgur either.
 8.
I use Imgur (it's free...); here's what it looks like (the correct link for Basschat is in green...) ... Hope this helps...
Just tried Google Photo's which didn't work either. I feel I have nothing to lose in try your suggestion. Thank you.
 9.
It is strange - but you're not alone, I've seen someone on TGP with the same issue as you and paid subs were mentioned as an explanation. It might be that Photobucket just haven't got round to applying the settings to my account yet. I take it your Pbucket window looks like this one and the link you're using is the one circled? The "IMG" link that BRX mentions is the one below it. And, obviously that you're clicking the picture icon - in the BC post window?
Yes, exactly that and it will not work for me. Just doesn't copy the link form where it used to on my old PC (exactly where you have circled).
 10. I'm really confused now Big Stu! I looked at what BRX said and the only link I can see that has an "i" before the number is the Direct link. The others have an "s".
 11.
Ah! When I click DIRECT, it still says "Copied!" in the link box. I think you might just be the victim of the new rules that are being applied right now. Reportedly, PhotoBucket now wants you to pay before being allowed to link to your library from other sites. That possible?
In that case, any recommendations for alternative free quality photo hosting?
 12.
The copied bit doesn't work because it relies on having Flash installed and if you have a new Mac it won't be. The link you want is the IMG one. The format should look like this:

I can't help you with exactly where this is because I have customised my Photobucket preference to only show this and the HTML links.
Ah. This is beginning to make sense now. For some reason I can't play embedded video on BC as the Mac tells me I'm "missing a plug-in". This never usually bothers me as I can watch video content on my iPad without issue. I wonder if resolving the plug-in issue would sort out PB maybe?
 13. Thanks BT. I'm sure I used to use the Direct link and when I clicked on it, it used to say COPIED in the box. Doesn't do anything when I click on it now!
 14. I know this has probably been brought up many times, but this is seriously doing my head in now. On my old PC I had no problem whatsoever embedding photo's from PB into BC threads. When my old PC went belly up last year, I started using my son's old lap top. Again, getting photo's onto PB was no problem, but for some reason I found I couldn't embed them on BC. I just put that down to ghosts in that particular machine and resolved that once I replaced my computer I would be up and running again. I now have a brand new Mac. Again getting photo's onto PB is a doddle, even easier than before in fact, but do you think I can get them onto BC. I know how it should work, but it just doesn't and I'm beginning to lose the plot with it. FWIW, I always used to view the photo, click the DIRECT link and drop that onto BC. Always worked before, but not now. Any and all help would be appreciated.
 15. I've had a few messages regarding this amp, offers for trade and other queries. A familiar theme seems to be the weight of it, which I can now address in full. I wasn't going mad! The amp IN THE FLIGHT CASE weighs 23.6kg (52lbs). In fact, it turns out that the flight case weighs MORE than the amp - go figure! The amp on it's own weighs in at 11.6kg (25.4lbs). The flight case on it's own weighs in at 11.9kg (26.4lbs). The distance between the outer edges of the amplifier feet widthways is 36cm (14 and one quarter inches). The distance between the outer edges of the amplifier feet front to back is 23.5cm (9 and one quarter inches). The actual width of the amplifier itself is 43 cm (17 inches) and it also has feet on the rear panel so it can be stood that way prior to sliding it back in the flight case. So yes, it's heavy in it's case, but I believe it offers the best protection for it. I can report that it is an absolute doddle to remove/return it from/to it's flight case as it is secured by four large cross head bolts which are very quick and easy to deal with.
 16.
Easy, two choices for me... A Wal MkIII Custom series bass... Probably an olive ash top, maybe in trans blue... 4 or 5... Not fussy... A 64 YOB Jazz Bass (or maybe a Hofner... Nah, deffo a Jazz)... For no other reason than that would be cool. PS Happy Birthday!
Thank you Trevor. Good choices.
 17.
Wal MK1. The ultimate bass!
One of the basses I've yet to play sadly ;-)
 18.
You may be right, but care is needed... if you spec a custom instrument and it turns out to be not what you were expecting or you just plain don't like it, it's very disappointing. With the added disadvantage that as it's built to specific parameters, it may be difficult to move on. Not that I want to put you off or anything...
Again, absolutely on the money. There would be a very short list of luthiers that I would entrust to such a venture. The upside is that I'm not that demanding in terms of spec. I'm used to and quite comfortable in playing J's and Ray's in the main.
 19.
Happy birthday I will give you my current GAS and agonisation list which may provide some additional ideas!! Number 1) is because I want an EBMM in that colour and the Bongo is most fitting - I already have a 5 but a 4 would be awesome for playability in my mind - number 2) came about from reading about/hearing a pink refin one on Talkbass plus a mate has one on order, plus I'm a big Mark King fan - the Wal has interested me for ages in second hand form but 2) led to 3) and im a big Alan Spenner fan. 1) Bongo 4HH in chilli red - new 2) Jaydee Supernatural Classic - new build 3) Wal Mk1 new build with padauk facings 4) pre CBS Jazz, Olympic White with matching headstock and clay (Lino.....) dots - old 5) as 4) - Precision - no matching headstock - old 6) Stingray 40th Anniversary - new
Thank you Dr.T. My you have expensive taste ;-) Has the 40th been announced? Or is that the Smoothie? (which is one of my options). I would like to have a Bongo. I tried one at the LBS a few years ago and thought it was brilliant. As much as I think the Jaydee looks and sounds gorgeous, I know I just can't cope with the shape. Wal Mk1 - Bucket List (plus a long wait) I do love a MHS. That Sea Foam Green is driving me nuts!
 20.
I would hold out for the right year-of-birth Jazz, it would definitely be a keeper, and very appropriate for such an important birthday present. I was born in 78, and I've always got my eye out for a YOB Stingray, I think it would be the only bass from 78 that might be worth having, or be significant. Happy Birthday by the way.
Thank you EmmettC You may be right. This.... http://www.andybaxterbass.com/details.php?id=786 .... I would have bought in an instant, but I was too late to the party yet again! '78 was my first year in secondary school and was a hideous time apart from my first Led Zeppelin experience.
