1.
the lead guy on fashion mate, brilliant apart from that.
I didn't notice. I'll have another listen, not that there's much we can do about it now. Thanks for your kind words.
 2.
awesome but i think the guitarist needed to tune and turn down a tiny bit.
Which one?
 3.
Very Nice all round
Thanks lojo.
For no money, you have to be pleased with the result. If you take out the very critical eye you put the video to... and which 99.9% of your normal audience wouldn't get at all... you would be fretting over very little details.
Yes, absolutely. We're fortunate to have been asked, but to get something of this standard out of it is a bonus.
Thumbs up... Should I visit it again(and again)?
Thank you. I'm not sure how the counting of views on You Tube works, but feel free to revisit
Love it, great work, comments and likes added
Thank you Oops. Sophie and Louise will be thrilled.
 4.
Liking those licks on Let's Dance ... mind if I nick a couple?
I'm not sure it's me you should be asking Jack, but feel free
Made the classic mistake of not zooming in on the bass player enough but other than that very impressive.
They are but young. They will learn in the fullness of time
Good work one and all. Slightly OT - what model Charvel is the guitarist on the left of the picture playing? It's given me GAS!
Thank you very much. I enquired regarding the guitar and it's a Charvel USA Custom Shop San Dimas Mahogany apparently. Catchy name for a guitar if you ask me
Very impressive, Warren. Lovely job.
Thanks Paul. The next one is 29/7 @ The Bassment in Chelmsford if you're free? Would be great to see you again.
 5.
Excellent video, well performed, expertly cut. 'Like' left (a first ever, from me, for anything..!) and congratulatory comment, too. My thumb is up.
Thanks Dad. High praise indeed. Thank you for taking the time to watch.
 6. Esteemed members of Basschat, I would like to make it clear from the outset that this is not for the benefit of myself or ChangesTwoBowie, but for Sophie and Louise being the two young ladies responsible for putting this video together for us. The band will make good use of it at a later date, but the link below is purely for them. In early 2016 we were approached by a friend of a friend to see if we would be willing to participate in a video shoot to assist Sophie and Louise with part of their course work for their BTec examination. Apart from our time, it was a no cost option to us as the venue was local to all. The understanding was that once they were done with the finished article, we could use it for whatever promo purposes we wanted. Deal. So one evening in March we got together and played the two songs back to back for what seemed like a hundred times over whilst the girls busied themselves shooting us. Two months later they turned this in and I have to say I’m very impressed by their work. They are aware that there are a couple of syncing issues which they did try to iron out, but overall I think they’ve done brilliantly. As an aside from their BTec grading, there is a departmental competition for the submission that gets the most VIEWS on You Tube. So could I ask you to take a few minutes out of your time to view the video. Obviously any encouraging comments for Sophie and Louise on You Tube would be very gratefully received. Thank you all ever so much. https://youtu.be/SazOSzOLHl4
 7.
I always used nickel wound strings on my Zons & my Bogart as I found the more mellow tone helped to counteract some of the brightness that is inherent in carbon fibre necked basses.
Ah, but I quite like the brightness so probably wouldn't want to mellow that out myself.
 8.
Rotosound roundwounds are are particularly abrasive apparently.
OK cool. Might explain why Geddy has been through a few frets and at least one neck on his beloved Jazz :-) Of late I have been using Super Brights more often, so maybe I'll stick with those on my jazz at least.
 9.
I too used to use Rotosound Swing Bass strings until I noticed that my frets were being eaten by them - apparently they have a bit of reputation for this. I wouldn't put them anywhere near any of my current basses.
Is that the same for most roundwounds or is it Roto's that have that rep? I've not heard that before, but I'm really not well informed in that area.
 10.
Ha, liking the Blackadder reference... 😉
Thank you, but what about the strings ;-)
 11. Many moons ago I bought a Status Empathy 4 string which instantly became my #1 and remained so for many years. It really is a fantastic bass and is the only I've owned that I can rely on being in tune straight out of the case. I then went through a Stingray phase and moved from them to Fender Jazzes and so on. I recently broke the Empathy out of storage for old times sake and although, as usual, it was still in tune, the strings are deader than Speckled Jim. I can't honestly remember what strings are on it. The last time I re-strung it was way before I started leaving the string packet in the case to give me a clue! So, is there a particular string that works better with graphite necks or would I be better with going with what I currently use on my other basses which are either Dunlop Super Brights or Rotosound Swing Bass strings. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
 12.
Saddened to hear this, Warren, although I can't offer anything but sympathy I'm afraid.
Thanks Paul. The best I can do is pick up a bass. My locked finger mutes the strings nicely, but that's about it!
 13.
I had this with my thumb about five years ago. It was painful but not in an advanced stage. My GP gave me a cortisone injection and it cleared up after a few weeks and has stayed away. I'm sure that surgery is often the answer, but (with the usual provisos), if your GP suggests trying an injection, I would take it.
The GP didn't seem interested in doing anything and referred me straight away. The earliest NHS appointment I could get is just over a month away, which I have booked, but I've also booked a consultation on Tuesday privately. Potentially, I could be under the knife in 3 weeks rather than four months if Tuesday confirms the diagnosis and he is happy to proceed. Just want if fixed now. I don't do incapacitated very well.
 14. Confirmed by GP as an advanced stage of Trigger Finger and I have been referred. More phone calls today.
 15. Paul, Did any of your fingers lock in the hand closed position or were they all still triggering as you opened your hand? My finger is fairly solidly locked shut today and I don't know why it should suddenly be this bad after so many months. I would normally pull it straight, but it seriously feels like something might give way if I do. Some of the bits I've read do mention that advanced TF can end up with the finger in the locked position. I guess I just need someone who knows what they're doing to look at it. I'm not hopeful that will necessarily happen tomorrow, but at least I will be taking the first step towards resolution.
 16.
Nope it was done under a local - they've all been local anaesthetic. The thing they dug out of my arm was a circular mass about an inch in diameter, it was done the at the same time. Seriously though, insist STRONGLY on the operation. I was referred to a health centre for the last one and the doctor I saw pretty much said, 'I'll give you a cortizone injection and that will sort it out.' She was actually saying this as she made her way to a locked cabinet to get the syringe out! I declined this immediately insisting the cortizone shot would only prove to be a temporary relief and that I didn't wish to go through the whole rigmarole again when the shot wore off and the symptoms returned in a few weeks time, plus, I had previous experience. Paul
Paul, Thanks for the advice. I could almost hear her tapping away on her keyboard as I was describing my symptoms, then "Right, the first option would be a splint" - cue sense of humour failure. We then moved onto injections. Thing is I need to tread carefully as I would like to get referred by them.
 17. I tried ringing the surgery this morning to be told that there weren't any appointments today. I had a bit of a rant and the GP has just rung me back. Despite not having seen me, it seems that she is quite firmly of the view that injections are the way to deal with this. I have made my representations based on what I have read from NJ and elsewhere and she has given me an appointment for tomorrow at 5pm. NJ - would I be correct in saying that from the picture above you had a general anaesthetic? If so, was that purely because of the other issue with your arm? I read the page you linked above which indicates the procedure for Trigger Finger is generally done under a local anaesthetic. Is that how you had the others fixed?
 18.
Hope you get an appointment soon.
I would settle for an appointment any time! Apparently I have to ring every morning to see if an appointments magically open up.
 19. Just rang the Doctor's. There are no appointments for the whole of next week! I have a feeling this is going to be a chore to sort out.
 20. Wow, two of ends of the spectrum there then. Everything I've read about it, if indeed that is what I have, is that anything other than surgery is just alleviating the symptoms rather than dealing with the cause. I didn't realise that if I do have surgery that I would be able to play so soon afterwards if all went well. I've already picked a window of Jan 2017 which is when I'm least busy gig wise, so if I can get referred now, I might be able to achieve that. If all else fails I'm prepared to go private. Thanks for taking the time to tell your stories. I woke up this morning and it had completely locked. I couldn't extend the finger on its own. The writing is on the wall as they say.
 21.
Really sorry to hear about your situation mate. I can't help, but as I've had great results with acupuncture I looked at this http://www.acupuncture.org.uk/public-content/public-ask-an-expert/ask-an-expert-muscles-and-bones/ask-an-expert-muscles-and-bones-hands-and-fingers/3707-would-acupuncturist-help-for-trigger-thumb.html it's not exactly helpful, but another iron for the fire perhaps. Best of luck with the issue pal
Thanks Daniel. I would definitely be open to acupuncture again if it was recommended as I had it some years ago when I damaged my radial nerve. That and some fairly rigorous physio made it bearable at least.
