  1. Get to see us for free at Witney Music Festival, The Leys Showground, Witney, Oxfordshire this Friday August 17th 2018. We're on at 8.35pm just before Noasis.
  2. Our long time keys player is emigrating to Spain in the near future and Total 80’s are looking for a permanent replacement. We have managed to cover some of the gigs we have in our diary with deps, but we have been unable to find someone suitable that can permanently commit to the band. As the name suggests, we are an 80’s tribute band of some experience and have an agent who sends us far and wide. There are well paid gigs that we need to cover in Derbyshire (Sat 22 Sep), Sheffield (Fri 9 Nov), Stroud (Sat 10 Nov), Hartlepool (Fri 16 Nov) and Bedworth (Sat 17 Nov). You will need your own transport and equipment capable of dealing with a fairly complex sounding 80’s set. We rehearse at Mushroom Studios, Rayleigh and you will be required to put some decent studio time in prior to these gigs. Given the distance of some of these venues, it is essential that the Friday night gigs are not an issue as load in’s are quite often mid-afternoon. Message me or ring me for further details on 07841-104409. Warren.
  3. This is an oddity (excuse the pun) in that I can't imagine many, if any, Bowie tributes would bother with it. David used to do this song in several different ways, but I don't recall him using this format himself, although I believe Lulu still uses it in her set. We usually use the 'Bowie at The Beeb' version as a template, but it was quite refreshing to do it this way for a change. What do you think?
  4. Yes, I think you’re right. Unfortunately we just didn’t have the gear to get that done at this gig. I’ve not inserted still images into a video before, so I might give that a go and see what it turns out like. There’s an effect called ‘Ken Burns’ which pans across a video clip or still frame to give it a sense of movement, so I might try that as well at some point.
  5. I'm beginning to get the hang of this video malarky now. Apologies for the quality of the video as I had to set the camera up right at the back, but I think the audio makes up for it.
  6. There’s a couple of colours there I really like - Ivory White/~Maple, Jet Black/Rosewood, Burnt Apple, Dropped Copper, but the one I like best is Charcoal Sparkle which is unfortunately a bit too close to two I already have i.e. the Sledge and Starry Night 😬
  7. I've been working on another video from the same gig as Breaking Glass. This is actually the third one, but I haven't quite finished tinkering with the second one yet. This one was far more challenging than either of the other two in that there were issues with one of the audio files and there were no close-up video shots available, so it was a question of making the best of what we had. That said, I think Natalie absolutely knocks this one out of the park. It's great to finally be able to get something decent together to showcase her role in the band. EDIT: There were a couple of things I wasn't happy with in the previous version, so I fixed them 😀
  8. Tickets available here. ChangesTwoBowie Basschat gig thread here. Four, yes four, new songs being presented for this gig. Hope to see you there.
  9. I know it's Thomann, but they are up for pre-order there. Prices start at ~£2150.
  10. Yeah, just checked and it looks like SLO's are history unless they do limited runs of them at some point.
  11. So, if I order an SLO version of this, would it be a Stingray Special SLO Special?
  12. Love him or hate him, Sterling and his staff do appear to have put some thought into this redesign. I quite fancy giving one of them a try....
  13. Yes it is. You can hear why it got stuck in my head. The Basschat collective does it again 👍
  14. Yay. Well done 😀. Where the hell did I get Testament from? Thank you very much 👍
  15. Not much to go on I'm afraid but.... I had this tune saved in my liked video's on You Tube and it's now been either removed or deleted and I can't remember what it was called or who it was by. It was a drum and bass affair, possibly from the 90's and there wasn't a video to go with it as such, but I do remember the thumbnail for it was a large black crucifix pictured flat, but an at angle. All the dark and moody and possibly could be something to do with the artwork of the song/album? When I found that it had gone I had a feeling the word 'testament' was either in the title or name of the artist, which kind of fits with the crucifix, but I've not been able to identify it through searching. Testament brings up loads of metal stuff which it definitely isn't. This track has a heavy synth bass riff which I couldn't get out of my head, which is why I saved it in the first place.
  16. Are there many manufacturers that continue to use a three bolt system on basses? Atelier Z do obviously.
  17. Which is essentially what the Yamaha Billy Sheehan model does I guess.
  18. All read with interest. I had actually forgotten about the micro-tilt thing. If three bolts are perfectly adequate, does this make the likes of Yamaha's Billy Sheehan bass (which has bolts angled into the neck to draw it into the body) and the arrangement of bolts on my Ritter, somewhat unnecessary?
  19. So, there’s a few basses I’ve GASSED over recently that I’ve justified swerving away from them on the basis that they have 3 bolt necks. I’m no expert, and no disrespect to anyone that owns one, but if you had a choice of building a new bass with either 3 or 4 bolts securing the neck, why wouldn’t you go with 4? My head says that 4 must be more stable right? Especially if you have to shim it? I accept I may be wrong, as I know sod all about making the buggers, but it just seems odd to me. Granted, back in the day, maybe the idea seemed sound, but they are still being made today. I give you an example....Atelier Z Jerry Barnes Signature. Wonderful guy, fantastic player, but 3 bolts for the four string and the five string has 4 bolts. So, if the justification for the extra bolt on the five for marginal extra heel width is stability, why not have four bolts on the four string as well? It strikes me that the 3 bolt on the four string has been done for purely ‘vintage aesthetics’, which if so, it just complete tosh. I’m more than happy to be shouted down in this. It might cost me a few quid, but hey, I get a NBD or three. Discuss.
  20. Thank you. I’m pleased there aren’t any glaring rookie errors. Audience wise, that’s a bit of a problem at the moment as apart from the close up’s, all the other camera’s were fixed. I think we are still missing video from at least one camera which wasn’t fixed and I’m hoping to get the video from that on Monday.
