    I recently managed to get my hands on the EBS Octabass (Blue Label, even though it's green?!) Triple Mode Octave Divider and thought I'd share the results in case anyone is thinking of dropping cash on one! I was quite surprised by the manual's suggested "synth" setting, as it didn't really evoke that feel for me (although improved when I combined it with a bit of dirt from the ValveDrive). All in all, i think the tracking is actually really good, the tone is very smooth and friendly in a mix and the pedal itself feels really well built (with a quality footswitch). It's a cracking little option!

    Number 37 of 500, this is a classic 18v preamp/DI in limited edition silver. Excellent condition with box and packaging.       @dodge_bassBought one this morning. Went for the one with the LED though (only because you could choose the colour 🤣)… also went for the Walrus Audio Slotva as the final pedal 🙂

      Ah didn't realise that was without LED - yes all about the LED. They're great pedals you won't regret it.

    Funny that, nothing turns me off a bass quicker than roasted maple… except maybe roasted birdseye maple. Rosewood or ebony all day long for me!

    Swings and roundabouts though, because with Sire, they could charge £200 for better features than a £450 Squier but it still has an ugly headstock and cheap a*$ tort… (by the way, I own a Sire P7!)

    Totally agree. I think if you like that kind of dirt, it’s a winner! I find if I have my bass in a mix, and subtle break up it’s just magical!

    Thank you for the kind words. Micro bass III is definitely one I need to try. I have a Noble preamp on the way and I’m thinking the combination of the two will cover all of the classic tones I need!

    Probably a little late to the party but I managed to get my hands on an EBS Valve Drive DI and I quickly realised that it was the breakup/dirt I’ve always been chasing. From slight breakup using the manual’s ‘Crunch’ setting to a heavier dirt using the manual’s ‘Vintage Overdrive’ setting, it’s got quite a lot of range and a tonal quality that’s hard to find. I must admit, I still can’t work out why the ‘flat response’ setting requires the EQ knobs to be maxed out to get the correct frequency curves (I certainly wouldn’t have known it just by messing around), but all in all, it’s an absolute winner! Here’s a quick 2 minute demo with some snapshots of the settings if you’re interested. Let me know what you think!

    I think it’s pretty clear (probably due to its main use?) that these AI colourisation tools are designed to focus on skin tones (reds, pinks and creams). Here’s a photo that I converted to B&W (left is photo before desaturation) then ran it through a number of recolour AI and they all clearly missed the mark on almost every colour…
