I should have said that I don't mix on my Tannoys, I've got a pair of M-Audio BX5a speakers too. They lack low end output being little 5 inchers so it's hard to get it right.
Luxury I find myself recording / mixing on headphones in one room then bouncing it around rooms & cars on memory sticks to try to get it about right. Phones I often end up with not enough bass. Wharfdales in another room tend to make me compensate the other way, etc, etc. I have almost got the hang of it but it's still a pain Tend to work with 'phones to not annoy the rest of the house and while they were mid priced and are OK I could probably do with looking for a set wth a flatter response. One day.....
Does anyone know if Howard has managed to reclaim his workshop from the builders? having just sold a bass i'm yearning to get my jazz up and running, i've got his number but don't want to disturb him if he's trying to get the backlog cleared. Matt
Ditto re getting the "Lynott" back together. Hopefully soon

A couple of the bands I work with do a number of the same songs, but for a variety of reasons in different keys. One is my main lot and the other a dep. It can be a bit of a nightmare particularly if I have been playing regularly with one while on a layoff from the other as the muscle memory sometimes kicks to leave me in temporary flounder mode but it's all good experience. The dep lot to "Living On A Prayer"in C#. It's a bit high for the vocalist/guitarist/leader and I did once say to him "Why did you pick C# not B which would seem easier all round" (certainly for me!!) ? His reply because I like to play stuff without looking at the guitar neck and C# works better for me Hey ho. His call, not my band.

Right then. Heres my attempt. Not entirely happy with it, but bored listening to #2 son's excuses for not adding a bit of guitar to the second bit so went with some old bolloxs I eventually managed Run Scoob or Jim'll FixYa And under 3 mins as well
Bump to remind that the Early Bird expiry date is fast approaching. I've got a ticket for the Saturday, and am still tempted to get one for the Sunday. Anyone else already got tix?
Ooo thanks for that. I must get this sorted (for Sunday) tonight!!

Fender FSR Precision - How special is the run?
WalMan replied to rushers's topic in General Discussion
Basically I'm gassing for a P bass and a bit confused by all the fender permutations. I won't be able to try before I buy - so any advice is appreciated.
You & me both. Tried a load yesterday & the one I like most seemed to be a 79 Bitsa (non Fender body, non standard pups but a good neck and sound). The newer ones tried, admittedly elsewhere & through a different amp included 2011 Standard & Special, and an FSR, which of the three new ones I preferred. Wish I'd managed the catch the one in FS that flew Saturday afternoon, but I think I really need to try before I buy rather than just dive in. -
Hmmmm now have two bits that sort of work & a clunky link. Time to finish & bare all tomorrow I suppose
-
Right then. Think I have part 1 sorted weighing in at a derivative minute. Sadly currently have B'all for part 2

I have at least one if not two Comfort straps that have lasted years the only problem being their skankiness as I am a bit of a sweaty bugger when gigging [EDIT] I have a couple of Mono straps and they seem OK, mind they are only a little over a year old
-
But they're so much fun Mind it knackered me when I got my first 5 & took it to a gig that night. I had all our songs sorted using the D tuner to flick down & back up during songd - need the low D for the chorus, but E is fine for the verse, so flick down for the chorus & back up for the verse. Smashing

Yup you will, or could well be stung import VAT and a handling charge by the courier to sort out the VAT from the US If the value of the items is

Under £15 then you do not pay VAT or Customs Duty
Between £15 & £135 you will pay VAT @ 20%
Over £135 you will pay VAT @ 20% plus Customs Duty (probably 2.7%, guitars requiring amplification are 3.7%) thought the Customs Duty is waived under £9
Look HERE Work on the basis that from the US you may well get caught and add 20% + £10 to the cost to see whether it is worth the hassle From the eurozone you will have to pay whatever their VAT rate is, not import VAT as it is already in the VAT area
