  1. Night two depping went well. One of wifey’s mates decided she’d like to go to the gig so wifey came out of recluse mode and I played taxi driver, so there were two dancers all night but the crowd were good. Got chatting to another bass player in the break and compliments on the bass sound which was nice 🙂 Managed to get the IEM’s working tonight and ran one in and one there or thereabouts which helped as space was tight so I was right on top of the amp but had one plug giving me a good solid bass feed plus some keys and vocals. Good fun night playing different stuff to usual
  2. First of two nights depping with a band I did a holiday camp dep for last summer. Couldn’t seem to connect to their XAir so didn’t use my IEM’s and went commando for the first time in a while. Everything from Beyoncé through Kool and the Gang to the Pretenders, Bon Jovi and Van Halen (Jump). One run through on Wednesday, a couple of run through to a Spotify and set up the sets as a playlist in iReal but didn’t really need it. Couple of flubs but of course the punters weren’t aware of my ‘jazz’ moments and were dancing all night so all good, and onwards to tomorrow night (well tonight now).
  3. A loooooong time ago when we had a song that lasted less than a minute called 'Thunderbirds Are Go' we walked on to The Joe 90 theme (NO OF COURSE NOT!!) The Thunderbirds theme. IIRC the walk-on music lasted longer than the song that followed it In a later incarnation of the band we had a walk-on to a mix of Ennio Morricone themes. I suspect there were others that my addled brain has forgotten!
  4. The Spotify playlist for next week’s dep 🫣need to get learning!
  5. Interesting. Got any more pictures of the body front and back?
  6. I run either XAirMonitor Mix or MixingStation on either my iPad or iPhone. Either is fine for setting tweaking the monitor levels as the Aux page is essentially a slider / channel. I use XAirMonitorMix app with the XR16 for my main band which works well and is quick and easy to select my Aux feed. I also have Mixing Station that I use for a band I sometimes dep for that use a Soundcraft Ui. That also works just fine and is free as the basic app but you then have to pay for selected mixers that you use. IIRC it's around a fiver for each so doesn't break the bank
  7. Watching as I need to see how much I have left at the end of the month (presuming all my clients pay up on time!). Been looking for a Jazz but mainly for the neck profile against a Precision so if as seems likely this were the case then …
  8. Are the headphone outs on XR16 and XR18 just the main outputs or can you route an aux for stereo personal IEM mix not affecting FOH? I can’t work it out from the manual 🤷‍♂️🤪
  9. I just wondered whether I could see anything on AB. Doesn’t really matter 🙂 I was looking at XR18 as I think the sound guy may still have the remote mixers that link on CATT5
  10. Sounds good over the speakers in my studio. There's a couple of pops on the left hand copy on the second bit but otherwise my deaf ears can't hear much difference Can't work out how to download the audio to compare with ADPTR MetricAB . I would need to find way to get stereo out of the XR16 which might only be possible on the headphone our=t without taking two of the Aux lines (making me unpopular ) On a different tack I noticed the Behringer UL1000G2 whilst browsing and wondered whether that was worth a look? https://www.behringer.com/product.html?modelCode=0404-AAA
  11. I got an Xvive unit to try with the moulded plugs that I got from Mercury (as I'd used them before for protectors & they're near the office to be able to call in) but actually most places we gig there's not a lot of space to run around so I normally just hardwire from Aux to a Behringer P2. Because the kit is not fully mic'd I got a cheapish boundary mic from Studiospares to place behind the kit for a bit of ambience & general kit and that seems to work well, and better (probably also safer/cheaper) than having my Zoom H6 to do the same job. I am really pleased with how it is going so far. I don't dig in too hard on the bass now because I can hear myself better, and don't over strain on BV's for the same reason so get to the end of an evening easier & pitching better. Downsides for me are trusting bandmates and sound guy to get / allow a decent bass level in FOH as the guitarists are often after me keeping onstage levels down - fine so long as FOH is adjusted accordingly because I can hear my bass fine in the IEM's but which I sometimes wonder about re FOH. It sometimes feels like my amp is barely ticking over. Also after the last gig I need to double check that the the feeds to my aux are pre-fade - I have a sneaking suspicion some or all may not be after my head was nearly taken off by one of the loops running off the the Alesis Multipad that I had said might need pushing in FOH as I had adjusted level down on one sample and realised I had possibly overcompensated at the previous gig & forgotten to reset before the last gig.
  12. Very nice. I keep thinking of getting a Jazz, but will have to just be a watcher until I get through January 🫣 GLWTS
  13. 😳STREWTH😳 There goes my insurance premium again 🫣 Glad I got mine 40 years ago!
  14. Not a bad one for the final before one guitarist and vocalist jet off to sunnier climes. New bar opening down the road and a big puller just out of town so I held out little hope for the usual noisy night for our venue, but it was reasonably busy and they were up for it…so go in glass half empty and be pleased by half full worked. A couple of us suffering from the start of this *****y cold doing the rounds but didn’t affect us too much. The odd fluff, but “no one died” and I doubt the crowd noticed. next up for me a couple of deps at the end of January and rehearsal/get together to make some noise pre-Christmas for my first band from 45 years ago (unless any more deps come in the meantime)
  15. Lazuli at Trading Boundaries tomorrow night
  16. Odd one yesterday. Not sure what it was exactly possibly three of us tired from the previous nights travels to see Barock Project & Tiger Moth Tails @ Trading Boundaries (both great but I digress). Early evening gig (16:30-19:00) at a venue that has had some difficulties in recent months with management changes & the regulars falling out with one of the interim managers, but hopefully that is starting to be behind them now. For our part a lot of silly mistakes, cues missed wrong songs started, but it ended up a good early evening gig despite it all. Sound wise (and I suppose don't trust sound quality of punters phone videos!) I was told "don't get any louder after the break as it's right on the verge". Sound from a punter video in front of me was OK. The bass sounded nice but was getting marginal for level against guitars & vox - my excuse being I have IEM's so have to trust the sound guy & others to let me know. Then again from a different punter the other side of the bar everything sounded a bit indistinct, and I am trusting that that was down to a phone's mic shutting everything down. Band Christmas dinner this week then one more before the vocalist disappears to sunnier climes over the holidays.
  17. This year's band Christmas song and video in the can and ready to go.
Not entirely in character with our usual style but has elements...and it's for Christmas, soooo :)

    1. Lozz196

      Lozz196

I think it sounds good, I got sent the link via Bandcamp (I think)

  18. Indeed…and first ticket out of the bucket having said I never win 🤩 Only had a quick noodle on the LFSys cabs at the end of the but look and sound good, so more choices for cabs.
  19. Destination sent to the car and part loaded just need to plug in for a little top up…see you tomorrow 🤪
  20. I have a couple of unused NY 130 gauge B-strings (one tapered, one not) that I can add to this as I’ll not use them
  21. I remember being put in charge of the footswitch for the smoke machine but not being told it only needed a short press to get a reasonable spread. Cue me standing on it for far too long as nothing appeared to be happening, and the pub being completely filled and resembling a scene from The Fog 🤣 On another occasion my bandmates previous band that carried a big stage show of props and costumes (think The Tubes or Alice Cooper) had an idea to create a dry ice waterfall from over the lights behind the drummer (old PARcans that created a lot of heat in pre LED days). Rigged a tube from the machine to the light bar. Came to use the effect during the set but by the time the cloud got to the end of the tube it had largely condensed so instead of a nice cloud effect the drummer was sat under a cold shower 🤦‍♂️🤣
  22. That set up was just messing about in the studio and I can't remember which amp went into which bit, but probably the Streamliner to the BB2 and Boogie to the One10's For gigs I use either the One10’s or one or two (though not often) of the BB2’s. If I'm feeling up to it for the proggy gigs I might use one BB2 for bass and the other for basspedals (McMillen 12Step into either a soft synth on the iPad or a DSI MoPho) The Boogie has gone now. I tend to use a Darkglass Microtubes 500 sat atop the Streamliner as a spare or for smaller venues an Aguilar Tonehammer 350 on either the One10's or a BB2. There's also an LH500 knocking around in a flight case though that's getting less use at the moment.
  23. Sadly no. Not pictured was the Super12t since sold and replaced with another BB2 🙄😁
  24. Definitely the S2. No idea about the S1, it’s red everywhere except the front of the neck, but I think so
  25. Not a bad night. Last gig at the pub for the landlord & landlady (though we’ve since heard that the new licensees intend to carry on having bands so we’ll see. TV on for the rugby and prior to that p155ed punters doing karaoke while we set up (oh joy). Then one of said punters decided they could play ‘guitar’ (I think you mean bass dear but let’s let that pass) so could they have a go to show their prowess? Not on that bass you can’t (Status S1) but knock yourself out with this one (beaten up FPPR S1 that SEBB attendees from years ago will remember Barney had for sale for years, plays and sounds great but looks in a state and one for the tightest of gigs where I don’t want to worry about knocks). So she strummed aimlessly for a while til I got bored and stood on the Microtubes mute footswitch and said “Oh no! You’ve broken it”. Otherwise the gig went well despite mullered punters spilling drinks everywhere, but all singing along and no major foul ups by the band so not so bad. Slightly marred by landlord getting into a domestic over how he’d dealt with a punter that rumbled on while we packed up and tried not to get drawn in. 🫣
