  1. We had fun reliving our youth and songs from 40+ years ago. Confused the hell out of some of the crowd with a set of spikey new wave songs in our stylie from back then - so sort of new wave but belying the eclectic roots of the band that listened to pre-punk and came out of a WMC club band that played country & hits from the 50's & 60's. Just three covers: "Another Girl, Another Planet" "Faithhealer" and "I Fought The Law", within a set of our 'classics': DeadTown, 9To5 (not Dolly P ), Melody Maker, Skateboard Love, Disco Generation, The Static, Bognor Boy, and many others none of you will ever have heard or be likely to you lucky things. Thankfully a crowd that included current bands and a bit of a school reunion for the other three helped. Supported by the old drummer from my main band's new band and got a chance to listen to my Darkglass + 2xBB2 rig that their bass player used (and it sounded rather nice ) Got through reasonably unscathed with the rhythm section holding things together with a nod of years together, and regular cries of "DON'T START IT TOO FAST!!!". Felt fast all the same but not as fast as when we were 18
  2. Bought a second BB2 from Colin recently (WHY!? I hear you ask ... because it had to be done ). Popped up to try out and collect whilst away with wifey for a few days, having told her we needed to leave room in the car when we left and that we needed to make a quick detour and got away with it Cab together with its twin sound luverly Great comms and a pleasure to do business with.
  3. Cheers Colin. Good to meet for the deal. I’m now proud parent to twin BBII’s and One10’s 😁 Anyone need anything demolishing 🤣
  4. The one button Intelligent footswitch. Silver version. £30 posted. Bought a couple of months back then got the Super Intelligent footswitch so this is surplus to requirements. As new but no box.
  5. Could you put something like these at the desk end? https://www.bax-shop.co.uk/adapter-plug-adapter-cable/xlr-jack-adapter-plugs-cables
  6. We used Alpha-Duplication.com and were happy with the results. Reasonable turnaround and price seemed on average with others that we looked at. Now we just need to sell a few more to recoup the cost I fronted for 100 copies

  8. Thought about posting some clips from Sunday afternoon's bash running through songs from 40 years ago with my first band as it felt good in the room, but maybe I'll pass as some of the Vox (well most of them) are pretty painful. So other than chopping out clips of just the band perhaps not :D

  9. Dan just acquired my BF Super12t. Nice easy transaction and a pleasure to do business with, even if I miss the cab already
  10. Lifesigns this coming Friday at Trading Boundaries, the start of a long weekend of music for me - 4 hour rehearsal Saturday day, gig Saturday night with main band then another 4 hour rehearsal with a third band Sunday day 😜
  11. We ended up back at as it was with a couple of tweaks to get the board to fit, but essentially it is unchanged. Email from Joe Zon following up on a couple of queries as to how to make it fit Just waiting on a meet up to pick up the bass 🙂
  12. …and cower at their grunt 🤣 Looks like an option to sit under my BBII for a modular 1 or 2 x 12 rig at 8 or 4 ohms respectively 🤔
  13. ...and no. My current faves are carbon fibre It seems most people don't notice the number of strings either. I have a 4 but all my other basses are 5's and I have been playing 5's almost exclusively for 10+ years, yet last gig someone who's been coming to see us almost as long expressed surprise that I had a 5 and asked when I had started that
  14. Brilliant customer service from Darkglass 🤩

Picked up a Microtubes 500 in a no recourse auction and it went pop the second time I used it.

Emailed Darkglass for a UK service centre and they said “send it back to us and we’ll fix it”…which they have. Marvellous 😁

  15. Long music day yesterday. First rehearsal with the prog band (Epsilon) in getting on two years during the day and remembered most of it. Slightly increased bass pit, but didn’t bother with the acoustic on a stand or extra keyboard 🤣 Home for a couple of hours kip then out for a bit of classic rock with The Alibi at a new venue for us. Next to no room so used the FPPR Status as a few knocks wouldn’t matter. Had a great night with the best overall sound in a while. I could probably have been up a bit more in the mix, but didn’t want to touch the stage level and get into volume wars. All good with the Darkglass Microtubes after it was back following some top customer service (picked it up secondhand from an auction and it went pop after one gig, I had no recourse to the auction house so emailed Darkglass to ask for a UK service centre and the said “send it back to us and we’ll sort it” and they did 😁). Four hours prog rehearsal and two hours gig in the evening and still cooking with gas. I do need to experiment with the settings but liking it. I should probably let one of the other amps go now as five is starting to become overkill 🤣
  16. Indeed. The other possibility we talked about last night was cutting down the shaft of the extra pot that came from Zon and finding a way to fix it in the cavity so that the split shaft presents flush to the hole that was originally in the back plate for the mid control originally on the board. Depends whether the old mid pot will go back easily or not, but then it would be broadly back the way it was before with the Mid control on the board and adjusted through the backplate.
  17. We’re looking at putting the original mid control back in the control cavity on the board where it always been and giving up on the idea of putting a pot on the front (a suggestion by Zon as a possibility in the first place when I talked to them about replacing the pots)
  18. The control was originally in the cavity on the board adjusted by screwdriver through the control cavity cover. Currently investigating putting it back. Getting it into expected position for five knobs on the front seems unlikely to be possible unless anyone at Zon can tell us how
  19. It is an option as seen HERE BE A PIC but working out how to do that is a problem. Currently investigating putting the pot back on the board as it apparently came off cleanly so is hopefully possible.
  20. Yes indeed. Not sure whether we may be past that option as the board control is off. 😭
  21. I have a dilemma with sorting the pots on my Zon Legacy Elite. The volume pot had given up so needed replacing. Got pots from Zon and they sent 5, because apparently it is possible to move the mid control from inside the cavity to the front-end that seemed like a good idea. The usual place for this from other photos I have seen looks to be towards the back 'horn' as in the last mocked up picture. But now we have everything out of the cavity (and the mid control off the board 🤦‍♂️) it seems that there is no space in the back position because the shaft & legs on the new pots are shorter, so the board is pulled closer to the front, and there is a capacitor on the board in roughly the same position that will likely snag on the new mid pot. So do we persevere and try to find a way to squeeze it into the usual position, or do we go with an alternate layout as pictured making a five dice face configuration, and if so with a normal side control knob or a different smaller one? The enormous top hat example is obviously not an option 🤣 I do like this bass and am not looking to sell currently, but it may become surplus to requirements (or due to GAS) and is not cheap, so I don't want to be making a change that'll put a big old dent in the value down the line!! Currently stuck in horrendous indecision. Does the 5 dice layout work (it's growing on me) and if so do I go with a fifth standard size top or a smaller one?
  22. Los Pacaminos last night Wakeman/Wilson next Friday. Both at Trading Boundaries, our favourite venue
  23. DOH! Just reread the opening thread and saw 3.4 that answered my Zoom H6 question 🤦‍♂️. So that’s a definite means to an end
  24. Very interesting and helpful thread giving me a lot to think about for getting back into IEMs Having gone the SE215 route a few years back and never really got on with it (perhaps not surprisingly it seems having read through this thread) I am thinking of trying again with better moulded plugs and a new transmitter - though the number of gigs a year may make it an expensive expensive vanity project. However by the end of the gig last Saturday I could really have done with something as I had lost the bass to raging guitars. Vocalist already uses IEMs but not the whole hog just non moulded plugs and no mix just relying on bleed. One guitarist uses IEMs but again not fully. Other guitarist is completely anti. Drummer was talking about starting last night at rehearsal, so it may happen. I did wonder whether my Zoom H6 could be run as an ambient source, though would be a bit of a waste of the unit for rough gig recordings. I was considering either one of the ACS Ambient series or maybe Mercury as they produced my last set of ear defenders and are near to the office for moulds, but maybe biting the bullet and a bit extra for UE6 would be a better bet together with the Shure 300 or Sennheiser G4. But so many other things to get / consider to make it work (and just for me 🤷‍♂️)
