1. I just love these things - I learned on one back in the mid '70s. I simply can't justify a purchase but good luck with the sale (the colour and competition stripes make this an unusual and desirable bass)
2. I use 4 strings from a set of D'addario 'baritone' strings on a Danelectro longhorn - not the most bassy, rich tone but may give you what you're looking for (and ultra-easy to play with super low tension)
3. An absolutely stunning bass - I bet it sounds as gorgeous as it looks
4. The bass is now sold - thanks to all for comments and enquiries
5. Bump - I think this one's on it's way, but you never know - thanks to all for PMs and enquiries - any further interest?
6. Thanks to all for the comments, help and enquiries. Probably not surprisingly, this bass is now sold (and is staying in the UK)
7.
Incredible bass. If you wish a swap for my Pedulla 5A just let me know.
Thanks for the offer (the Pedulla is gorgeous), however, I think the Masterbuilt is now well on its way to being sold
8. Fantastic bargain and 6stringbassist is a joy to do business with
9.
Hey, Loz, I'm wrong then - so much for my forensic skills!!
Hi and thanks for the help - I'm just amazed you could even attempt to analyse the dot positioning from my cr*p photos! There's now fairly feverish interest in the bass - it could be finding its way to the continent soon (like a lot of other lovely basses that have been on here recently)
10.
Stunning bass Loz, sad to see you're selling. For those unaware (probably not many!) Loz is a gent of the highest order.
Hi 4000 - thanks - the respect is absolutely mutual! I'll respond to your last PM very soon - work is driving me crazy Oh...and despite a lot of interest, the bass is still here...
11. Hi all, thanks again for all the comments and pm's (all replied to). I've added a photograph of the inside of the control cavity (as requested), and an image of the front of the Bass Centre branded Warwick premium gig bag
12. As promised, a couple of images of the bass wearing felt washers over the bridge plate screw holes (pasted into the initial post) - I think it looks rather dapper (despite my blurry photography and the absence of any real light in Manchester this morning). I've also included an image of the case candy. On the dot markers - I've measured carefully, and it appears that the markers are 'between the line' - thanks for all the advice and highly informed comment Weird War - thanks for the Hungarian lesson, I'm hoping to be over in Budapest in September and now know how to what to order with my veggie stew
13. Hi all - thanks for the comments and PMs. I've been asked for a close up of the inside of the control cavity - I'll get an image up tomorrow. Please let me know if there are any other close-ups required
14. Hi all, thanks for the comments - and wow on the forensics - I'm stunned! I'm playing a wedding tonight and in a major rush to get over there. I'll respond properly tomorrow - my impression is that the dots are 'between' the lines as for a standard fretted. I think Denis was aiming for the Jaco idea - a bass built in the early '60s with the frets removed (I'm not sure however). Martin Peterson also found the dots to be 'between' not 'on' the line and intonated the bass with this in mind. I managed to get some black felt washers yesterday and will fit them over the lacquer cracks tomorrow and take some further photographs (I'm not sure what it will look like but we'll all see soon - the idea was suggested by a local luthier). Cheers all, Lozbass
15. Thanks to all for the very kind comments - it really is a lovely bass, just too big for me. Peaty - I'm in central Manchester
16.
I saw a bass exactly like this on ebay a couple of years back. I GASsed for it then, and I'm GASsing for this now...
Haha - there is but one of these in the world! I enjoyed a day out in Yorkshire about 18 months ago Edited for spelling
17.
Dude, you've been teasing me with that baby for months
I've been reflecting on this for a while - Kismet really - I think it's in your destiny
18.
That grain pattern is exquisite. And nothing wrong with your photography skills Loz! If I can shift my Sei bass, I might be severely tempted Oh the gas.
Hi Jmanfunk - thanks for the compliments - I got a bit luckier than normal with the camera today! I know a bit about GAS, mine reached critical levels in the last year and I've got to clear out the basses I can't or don't play
19. For Sale - Fender Jazz Fretless - Masterbuilt by Denis Galuska Major sell-off - clearing all long-scale basses (pretty much). I only really play short(er) scale (well...that and the fact that I'll never play fretless as long as I have a hole in my a*se) Absolutely breathtaking Jazz fretless - around 3 years old (a unique and custom one-off) from Fender Masterbuilder Denis Galuska In entirely 'as new' and stunning condition apart from marking (impressions and lacquer cracks by the screw-holes) under the bridge cover. Marks are invisible when the cover is fitted. I've discussed repair with 5 or 6 luthiers and all say it can't be done: the only option is a full body respray. The damage is actually very minor but irritating - it was caused by Fender when the bass was returned to have some initial changes (tuners etc.) The chips are small and could be covered by inserting the cover plate screws and small felt washers. 2 Tone sunburst nitro finish - genuinely gorgeous (it sometimes looks 3 Tone in the poor quality photographs but isn't - sorry, my photography skills leave much to be desired) Ebony unlined board (with markers as for fretted), flamed maple neck (subtle but beautiful), alder 2 piece body - the bass is built around a '64 Fender Custom Shop pickups The most lovely Fender I've seen or played by some distance Commissioned around four years ago - not gigged or rehearsed - around 30 hours playing time in total Original case and all case candy (including certificate) in as new and flawless condition - the strap was fitted for a short time but is unmarked Original receipt and paperwork included (original purchase price was £3600 as indicated on the receipt) Lacquer marking under the bridge cover appears in the photographs - you can see that these are entirely invisible when the bridge cover is fitted The bass was set-up (perfectly - the action is super-low and the bass simply sings) by Martin Peterson at the Gallery - strings are Labella slappers and are virtually unplayed. The bass drew a lot of attention and some real gasps when it was at the Gallery - it's that stunning in the flesh Selling price is £1450 - this really is a serious bargain - it's a stunning one-off bass and looks immensely cool. Collection from central Manchester or professional packaging and carriage (around £60 extra). I will send overseas but charges will be higher. I'll try to answer pm's rapidly or can talk by 'phone (please pm me first).
20. Bump for lots of images
21.
It was too tempting... :-) Very curious because I actually never played one before but I'm trusting my intuition.
I think you'd be safe with Martin's work - his Jazzes are a thing of considerable beauty
22. Hi Bubinga 5, I thought you'd like it! Sei Jazzers are the state of the art in modern Js for me (well, those and Sado's) I was playing my four string last night and it's just so comfortable, fast and easy to move around on (and light!) It's just a plug and play bass too - no fiddling around. I know this is getting repetitive, but Martin is doing some of the finest work in the world IMO. Hi too to Rich - sorry I've not been in touch - I hope that all is going well!
23. Hi Tony, Jmanfunk - thanks - I'll get some photographs up asap (caveat here - my photography skills are a bit dodgy). Ged (Green) is a star - some superb work on a few of my basses over the years - certainly one of the best luthiers around
24.
Was this the one that happened to be on Ebay a while back? I remember asking the seller to send me high res close ups. The bass looked absolutely factory fresh. This is a great price too! The one Warwick model I haven't owned yet.......
Hi, it was the ebay one and it is factory fresh (my fifteen minutes worth of tuneless fumbling haven't sullied the original state). Indeed, I spent a good few bob on the bass when it came in - it hadn't been used but the strings were absolutely dead (they'd been on for 18 months): the Streamer's now wearing a lovely set of brand new Elixirs, is set-up to perfection (for me anyway) and has Dunlop straplocks. The original straplocks are included of course. The bass has also been professionally waxed and I've given it a couple of waxings subsequently (it was a bit dry when it came to me and the wax brought out the grain beautifully).
25. Following a dreadful recent rehearsal - final confirmation that I can no longer cope with long scale (other than on the skinniest of 4 string necks) - my Warwick Streamer Stage II (5 string) is up for sale. Don't get me wrong, if I could play this, I would keep it. I won't go into detail as anybody with even a half-serious interest will know what the bass is and what it can do. Just a few comments: Bought by me around 3 months ago in unused condition (came from an acoustic guitarist - the bass was bought for 'a change' then never used) Just 2 years old and in entirely perfect, as new and unmarked condition Beautiful grain pattern in the body - certainly one of the most (possibly the most) attractive Streamers I've seen Set up and re-strung (beautifully) a few weeks ago by Ged Green - an authorised Warwick agent - with Elixirs I'd estimate less than 15 hours playing time in total since the bass was built Super low action - fabulous growl and massive output etc. etc. Comes with Warwick Premium Gig Bag (again, in perfect condition) In all, a stunning bass in perfect condition - this looks like a new bass (and a very nice example of the model) Price is £1300 firm - this is around 50% of the new (discounted) price There are lots of photographs - my apologies for the quality ('might do a bit of weeding later). Collection is preferred (I'd like any prospective purchaser to try the bass - I'd be massively surprised if anybody was disappointed) but I can ship with full insurance and at the buyers cost
