1. As long as you don't end up playing like Sid vicious you'll be ok!
2. If the decision was down to me looking like Sid Vicious or Pete Wentz i know what i would have done! ;D
3. Hi Bottle, It sounds like you and me are in the same boat, maybe at different ends but definately the same vessel! I am playing A,D,A,D,G for Beat the red light (they dont let us in churches!) I was struggling with getting enough power for the lows and also lugging a ton of cabs about with me, my solution is on order as we speak... 1XBarefaced Big One cab 1x1k power amp 1xSansamp bass driver pre amp I will let you know how it works when ive got it all delivered and tested out. Cheers, G.

5. It looks like something you'd find in a park with kids running in and out of it, all its lacking is a slide, a bit of cargo net and some wood chippings underneath it!
6. i can reccomend the Aria AMB 50-B, ive had one for years and its great, shouldnt be too expensive either if you can find one for sale. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=25765

Neckdive

you tried moving the neck strap button?
10. Thats just a sure fire way to end up with unwanted little ones!
11. Ive had an Epi TBird for years, its totally standard apart from the stickers scuffs and dents, ive been using it again recently for recording bits and bobs with and its really giving me the horn again, The only problem ive had with it is when ive been forced to stand too close to a stack at gigs and ive had a bit of feedback whistling. Apart from that its been a real workhorse....really works well using the butt of it to hammer the drummers ride cymbal too, oh and as a battle axe to keep him from killing you afterwards!
12. Hi Jon, There's a nice compact little Trace Elliot set up that might tickle your fancy on sale here... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=104613
13. Ive got a big one on order and i want to get a cover for it, i have contacted Roqsolid and they said they would knock me one up for about £40. Just wondered if anyone else had bought a Big One cab and had any other suggestions as to where to get a cover?

15. I'd suggest having a chat with Alex about the Barefaced Big Twin.
16. Definately give one a go before you order one, they are a bit Marmite. Personally i love them but you might not!

21.
On the earplug front, I do wear plugs in practice but haven't got to getting moulded ones yet. Unfortunately im stuck to the orange 3M ones, which will do as long as I stand far away from my amp! They can get so bassy. Anyway cheers for all the food for thought!
Doc's Pro Plugs are pretty good for budget plugs, most places stock them.

BEAT THE RED LIGHT

We played with a really good American band last night called FATTER THAN ALBERT, worth checking out as their bass player had it going on live, some really nice lines.
23. My essentials would be... A) Bianca Beauchamp Aria Giovanni C) Jim Beam D) a Chiropractor for afterwards!
24. Alex came back to me with the idea of using my sansamp through a power amp, sounds like a winner to me....and my wallet!
25.
I'm assuming that Alex has recommended his 'Big One' and a hefty power amp to drive it? Certainly on paper (as I haven't had the opportunity to hear Ale's cabs yet) - it looks like a system that can deliver and I trust Alex's judgement as he knows his sh*t if you pardon the expression. One of my Shuker basses is designed to tune down to low F# and I can appreciate the issues you may be having getting those tunings to be heard. As you have pointed out too - I don't relish the thought of carrying around a dinosaur sized (and designed in the same time period) rig.
Exactly
