1. Thank you! Will check this out once I have the beastie in my hands...or it has me in ITS hands!
2. Will hopefully have my first DB in about a week. My combo has a Little Mark2, which has a balanced XLR input supposedly for DB. What sort of pickup gets plugged into this, or is it a line out from a preamp that's needed?
3. And it looks like I'll be having the G4M! Not really sure what I'm getting into! But it will be fun! Won't it?
4. This dates from May 2007, making it one of the first, if not THE first, delivered to the UK. Condition is 9/10, has some playing wear in the form of very fine hairline scratches - nothing visible from other than close-up. Pickguard shows slightly more wear - our guitarist had it for a bit, and he plays with a pick. Mods: Non-original knobs, no-name tension-adjustable tuners, genuine Fender bridge cover. These are basswood with ash veneeras front and back. Nut wuidth 1.6" - somewhere between P and J, profile quite shallow. Weight 8.7lb. Strung with EB flats 35-95. Price includes delivery and a good Fender gig bag. Selling due to lack of use and to help fund DB purchase! 5. Well, I've done OK in Devon. Would far prefer to be back in Newquay though. There's no way it's going to be as lively as Bristol, but it's there. Exeter busier than Plymouth IMHO, Plymouth still suffering a slightly downhill trend, although there are many people working hard to reverse that.
6. Set of Chromes now on the Squier P5. Slightly less tension than the stock rounds, truss rod backed off a quarter turn, otherwise no setup required. Very bright for flats, doubtless they will mellow somewhat. They will get quite a few hours' work over the next couple of days, so hoping they'll get the edge knocked off. If they fail to please, then it's save up for TI JF345s! The only bad thing about that set is the 136 B, which usually requires nut work...
7. Went for some strings, nothing more. But still a thoroughly enjoyable visit, as always. Doesn't matter how casual the visit, these guys now how to treat their customers. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Well done, Tom and the crew!
8. Bartelby, IME, almost ANY flats have more compliance than those. You could tow a car with tge E string. ..
9. I'm about to put a set of Chromes on my Squier P5. Never used them before, so looking forward to seeing how they sound! I have flats on everything. TI JF344s on the two P4s, Fenders on the Kingman. The Chromes on the P5 will replace the stock rounds. I find it really hard to play on rounds now - too uncomfortable!
10. I'd love an American Special Jazz neck to put on my Squier Telebass. ..will now, having thought if it, have to start saving the pennies to give to that nice stratosphere man on ebay...
11. Standard fender spacing as far as I'm aware, around 18mm.
12. What Muzz said ^^^^
13. I have a MIM with '94 American Standard pickups. Couldn't hear any difference when I fitted them.
14. Fender Precision Standard MIM 2003 Squier bitsa P 2014 (main bass) Squier P5 2014 Squier Telebass 2007 Fender Kingman SCE acoustic. Not a single NON-Fender-like bass anywhere...
15. Fender Precision Standard MIM 2003 Squier bitsa P 2014 (main bass) Squier P5 2014 Squier Telebass 2007 Fender Kingman SCE acoustic. Not a single NON-Fender-like bass anywhere...
16. Might just go to that!
17. Probably learnt to play by flipping a righty bass!
18. Now I need to save up for the uber-pricey TI JF345 string set!
19. The factory making these VMs in Indonesia is doing an amazing job with the necks. The VM77 neck on my bitsa P and the neck on my new P5 are amazing by ANY standards, let alone entry level. *shakes head in disbelief*
20. Dozen or so...maybe more!
21.
I wouldn't say I'm moody... Mrs C says things like 'morally disengaged' and 'unempathhic' when she's telling me what's wrong with my personality...
I am so...this!
22. None of the links work for me...
23. Oh yes! Be nice to have the Squier bitsa down to 6.5lb!
24. Lovely necks. 500-550 tops, IMHO...
