I admire your parents for having the sense to make the choice !!!!!! I love travelling, and have been to a lot of places in this old world of ours but NOWHERE feels like home in Lincs!!!!
Did my RAF basic training at Swinderby in 1974. Never willingly been near the place since!
2. Well...I'm an Essex boy (boy! Ha!), but my parents, for some unexplained reason, currently live in Lincoln...
3.
I've checked out GAK and Sound Control, and neither of them seem to have the new ATKs. Anyone know of anywhere stocking them? I always wanted the old ATK405, but they're rare as rocking horse sh*t now, so one of the new 305s will suffice...
Well, we here at Hartnoll's have a 300, but if I remember correctly there's not a lot of 'em around yet...
4. That is no more a 66 P than I'm Sir Ranulph Fiennes. The neck date has been put on with a 50p office accessory, and even just looking at that particular pic, there's two glaring ommisions. It would say XXmonth66Y, where Y = A, B, or C, for the different neck widths available then. Also, where's the truss rod adjuster? The headstock logo is wrong, and there's something resembling the 'offset contour body' decal on the ball of the headstock, and no P has ever had one o' they! T top it off, who'd start a 66 P at less than a grand?
5. Welcome, and enjoy!
6. Welcome! Ah, Precision, don't get me started on P-basses! All I play, can't possibly get enough of them!
7. Availability: On request. Didn't think they'd actually have any yet...They're showing up on plenty of websites, but no-one in Europe, let alone UK, has them yet. They've just hit the shelves in the States, according to some of my other-forum contacts who are also interested in this bass.
8. Paul Cooke wrote:"get a Squier P special with P and J pickups... and stick a jazz neck on it..." Erm, why? It has one on it already...
9. As per the sig...Fender, Fender all the way. Don't count Squier as seperate, even less so now I have one - great bass! In fact, Precisions all the way! Oh, and, erm, Mr Polglaze? If you ever decide to no longer like the A-neck P, do give me a call...Please! Pretty please!

11. The reputation of the type 2 Telecaster bass, from which this is modelled, is of delivering unrelieved mud. In this respect, it's a very good copy, as it does mud for the Olympics, as you'd expect from a 'bucker that big and wound to 24kohms. But with a modern amp, you can get round that. If you have a very traditional rig, you'll only like the sound if you also like Gibson basses, although the longer scale does help the Fender be less muddy than a short-scale., So: Muddy? yes. Incurably muddy? Not at all. Well playable? With a good set-up, superb. Edit: forgot to add that you'll be lucky to see one before the end of June. Fender say mid-June, but I'll believe it when I see it...
