Stingray5
Hi, Just got an email from the Mick Karn website....it would appear that he has been diagnosed with Cancer.....devastated....Mick was the reason I picked up Bass 20 odd years ago.....Life is truly a bitch... Matt
Holy moly! I just replied to 'facemans' post regarding an old friend of his who has lung cancer and the next thread notification I get is telling me Mick Karn has cancer. Bad news indeed. Like many here, I've always admired Mick Karn's unique style as both a bassist/musician and also an artist/sculptor. I hope they have caught this in time and he is with us for many years to come.

voxpop
Very sad....... I, like many of us Basschatters got into playing the bass because of Micks creative playing and unique sound. My thoughts are with him.

alanbass1
Very sad. I never really paid much attention to Mick until I saw him in the Midge Ure band playing one of those Princes Trust gigs back in '88. He was phenominal and extremely versatile on his fretless http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-dEEwhTRWI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMpXxnkOY3I http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ln_mk11MqYI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQKLi0Ii_y0...feature=related Edited June 5, 2010 by alanbass1

SickPuppy
If its the advanced stages of the Big C its never good, loved Mick and loved Japan.
Herbsley
Very very sad news. Awful. Just a brilliant bassist imho, with a truly unique sound and style. Pretty much single-handedly inspired me to pick up a bass all those years ago - I recall it was back in his late Japan, Midge, and early solo days. And there's still loads of his basswork that I can't play. I really hope he can beat this.
