I had some GFS pickups in my P and it growled like no other. If you can wait for them to make the journey over the pond, they are a total bargain!
Yeah the SD's are good but expensive, I have heard a few people say the GFS pups are a bargain and still good quality.

Kent Armstrong is ok but I wouldn't upgrade with them again personally - purely because I've found better since. It depends on your budget & what you are looking for tonally. I like classic vintage tones so the Seymour Duncan SPB-1 and the Antiquity II have boosted 2 of my P-basses. Both excellent. The Antiquities are not cheap though but you might grab yourself a second hand bargain on EBay. I also recently acquired a Wizard trad for my 60s P-bass which has a lovely woody tone.
