60's psychedelic lightshow thang

I may have been there in the 60's but I don't remember them much (man).

I do remember the projected rotating liquid gel light show though.

Now I'm in a retro band, I thought it would be fun to have such a backdrop. Anyone know if modern day equivalents exist?

Do you mean the old oil wheel thing? I'm sure I've seen them on ebay, brand new.

Soundlab also do one by the looks of it.

I used to do my own with an old slide projector, some slide glass, food colours and paint stripper.
It was fun, if a little bit dangerous...

ah memories... used to do the lights at the school disco... used a large clock dial glass and a clear glass tray and had them on an OHP slide projector...

Ah, yes, I remember doing that same thing too.

It occurred to me this afternoon, that a modern way (and less of a fire hazard) would be to stick a projector on to a laptop that's playing music with the psychedelic patterns you get with various media players.

try and download some original ones if you can/they exist. The generic ones are good but EVERYONE will spend at least two songs nudging each other and saying "Eh up, thats media player that is"!
