Im shopping for new pots for my P-bass which currently doesn't have any onboard controls and I have a few questions which need answering. If anyone can help I'd be very appreciative. :)

1, What are the standard pot resistance values in a P-bass?

2, How is is Mark Hoppus P-bass wired? as i am thinking of possibly going volume only.

3, What make of pots should I go for?

+1 to CTS pots. Also I'd recommend a Switchcraft jack socket and a Sprague Orange Drop capacitor to round it off nicely!

Have a ganders HERE for a standard P bass wiring diagram with component values, etc.

Cheers,
Jon.

Just goes to show what creatures of habit we bass players are :) Any good quality pots, jack sockets or caps will do just fine. Sprague Orange Drop indeed!

Oh yeah, I'm totally with you there Stevie.
Just helps when selling stuff on if you have industry standard parts in there!

I used 500k CTS pots in my warmoths cos I could never find 250k ones that could be used with a rear routed body but normally 250k is recommended for single coil pickups and 500k for humbuckers.

I use paper-in-oil caps for their mojo snake oil type properties. I've just bought another batch and have fired the first one into my precision so we'll see how it sounds at next week's gig.
