I'm gigging much less - mainly recording now- and am selling two Ampeg 4 x 10 cabs (USA made). These are in beautiful condition and have been kept in carpet covers. Open to sensible offers.
Also selling two Eden 210 XLT (these are the top of the range Eden 210s) . Again, sensible offers considered

Well what do you think? If this forum was to be the place for people with bass gear to drop in and get rid of some stuff, surely it would resemble Loot. But it's not.
This is a forum for people who play or have an interest in the bass guitar, double bass or hybrids of these instruments.
A bit of common courtesy to say hello would make a lot of difference.
At least introduce yourself and say hello. :)

I know what you are saying...I just felt it was a bit of a hostile welcome. The gear may well turn into a great deal for a Basschatter (obviously the details would need fleshing out a bit).

I have contributed to the community (largely through this forum over the past 3 years) but have spent most of the time looking rather than typing. That being said, I have had some great deals from the community and given some great deals. If I had got a welcome like this one, I wouldn't have bothered.

I have contributed by bringing good gear at good prices to several members of the community, as well as buying good gear at good prices from other members of the community. In that time I have built some quality relationships within the community. I'm not claimimg to get involved in every forum- I clearly don't. I just don't feel you should be welcomed with hostility because you don't 'introduce yourself'.

Asking the guy to take the time to do a quick 'hello' in the introductions section does not constitute a hostile greeting. People are right -- if you're going to sell kit here, the least you can do is say 'hi'... otherwise it might as well be Loot.

Maybe he posted both for sale topics and was about to think of a nice story to add to the introduce yourself forum. However, the trolls that frequent this forum all clambered over themselves to criticise him so he thought 'f*ck that' and hasn;t been back since.

'Home of deep discussion'? More like a village full of stranger-hating yokels.
I be one of dem yokels. You quoted home of deep discussion, are we not discussing?
If the guy has been made to feel unwelcome, then I for one am sorry.
BTW, I wear a parka with 2 hoods. This is a local bass site for local bassists, we'll have no trouble here.

I don't care if people don't post in the introduction forums. I don't think most people read them anyway.

It would be kind of nice if in one of the new posts the seller would put something along the lines of: "hello my name's... and I'm selling my..." Just something a little more human and less impersonal.

I'm sure it would benefit the seller money wise too :)

increase the peace
This is the second time in as many weeks that a new member of the forum has been given a less than warm welcome.

Also, lecturing someone for not posting in the introduce yourself forum when you haven't done so yourself is somewhat hypocritical.
Hi Bassbloke, socialism tempered with capitalism tempered with free will is the way to go. Also the internet allows users to come and go as they please. Incognito, up front or anywhere in between, you know what I mean. It seems that you like to keep your ID secret too.
