Cornfedapache Posted June 28, 2009 Share Posted June 28, 2009 I'm up for a string change on the Shine and Aston (Electro-Acoustic) now. The Shine has got some random nylon wound black things currently (great sound but never want to play them again) and the Ashton has standard bronze acoustics on. I've normally run Rotosound as I quite like them, in the heaviest gauges that I can get. But I'm up for a change (although don't like Ernie Balls) so thought I'd see what you lot thought. Not sure where the band situation is going at the moment, but it could be anywhere between Sigur Ros style and full on rock. I'm seriously considering a bass synth pedal too, as well as a bit of distortion and, although self taught, am getting worryingly into chord type structures... So that's where I am/am going. velvetkevorkian Posted June 28, 2009 Share Posted June 28, 2009 I like Elixirs- I use .40- .125 gauge on my 5 strings. Enough beef on the low end, nice and easy to set up and they last for ages. leonshelley01 Posted June 28, 2009 Share Posted June 28, 2009 D'addario XL 45-105 Nickel on the Jazz. Long lasting, great tone. Rotosound Swing 45-105 Steel on the Precision.
