16. Attempts to sell without a Marketplace subscription

I’ve been looking at eBay & Reverb & have no clue where mine sits.

I’ve had this sat in its case for over 10 years.    I would sell it, because I want something cheaper that I can leave out & play, rather than putting it back in the case every time.  I don’t know how much to ask for it?

I look at eBay & the prices vary massively.   I’m not expert enough to know why.

That’s a rare Stingray - it has a piezo V nice colour etc and looks like a late 90s/early 2000s from the serial number (it’s actually 2nd December 1999 from EBMM database). It shows as exactly as per your photos, down to the pearloid pg - quite rare for a pearloid straight from the factory)!  It would be worth trying one of the retailers who sell on consignment - eg Bass Bros, Andy Baxter, The Gallery and see what they suggest (remembering you’ll have to pay a percentage to them).

 

If you read back through the thread there are plenty of ideas of current prices. 
 

Stingrays do pop up for relatively low prices (under £1000) dependent on how much the seller needs the cash and how clued up they are on current values. You could register and try to sell it in the for sale thread - I don’t recall the last time I’ve seen a Stingray with piezo for sale - I have a Bongo with piezo and would certainly be looking for slightly more than for a non piezo one (I’m not selling it)!! Having recorded with it and used it live the piezo adds another very usable sound and timbre to the bass!

I don’t really need cash tbh, but I’m definitely not clued up, so thanks for the advice.

 

I did get quotes from a couple of dealers, including one you mentioned.    I was offered £1050, £1100 & £1200.   Obviously won’t say which, as that wouldn’t be right.

They did say I could get more if they sold on commission, but I didn’t explore that further.

 

I’d be happy to sell on here.   Just trying to work out the right price.

@Useless Eustace it’s a lovely bass - they’re an odd one the Piezo models, I had one in red years ago and the amount of people who did the “if only it didn’t have the piezo” line shocked me…

 

I found it a really useful feature.

 

Anyhow - they seem to sit in that 1300/1500 bracket currently…yours may fetch more as it’s got a nice bit of wood going on and the piezo etc so £1500+
 

And the market will dictate.

I don’t need to sell, but it’s wasted just sitting in a case.

That would be me. I've walked away from buying basses due to them having piezo pickups. It really is horses for courses 🙂

I'm with you on this. The gloss poly finish (in my opinion) on the back of necks is horrid.
