212 cab

Well I’ve decided to stay with MarkBass and ordered in the sales a MB58R122 Pure  

 

Rated 800w 8 ohms ( in case I wish to add another cab. 
 

I hoping this will suffice as a single cab option with my TE1200 and if I like it maybe consider selling my MB58R 102 Energy cabs x 2 !!

I had an EBS Neo 2x12 for many years which would fit the bill. Available used for about £450. Brilliant cab.

Ive just got a laney 212 (amp cab set up) 4ohm looks and sounds great £500.

I had a Digbeth 500 like yours and looked at the 212 matching cab but 30 kg in this day and age is a no from me but glad you like yours.

Its got 2 handles on it!!!! What more do you want???  😉 

 

Someone mentioned Zilla cabs not sure in weight.

In a 212 discussion, I'd question whether we need a 212 at all. Using the right cab might mean you only need a 112.

 

With cabs I always used to over compensate. I prefer a clean sound so if 1 would be good enough I'd use 2. On very loud gigs I used to run a Berg CN212 and Berg AE112. Then I switched to a Barefaced Super Compact and Super Midget, and found that these cabs were louder than the 312 stack.

 

I also screwed up once on our jam night. . . . I forgot to plug in the SC! I only discovered that at the end of the night, so the whole gig had been run using only the SM. We had some heavy handed players that night including a reggae player who doesn't take any prisoners and the SM was loud enough for all the guys who got up. Maybe Alex's claim that 1  BF 112 is as loud as other manufacturers 212's might be true.

 

Since then I've used one Super Compact on several occasions when I would have previously used 2, and not found it wanting.

I have used the excellent Monaco cab as a 112 but I like the 212 better as a cab ideally two vertically spaced or diagonally spaced in a cab

I used to have two Berg 112 cabs and they struggled - the two cabs were not loud enough, yet alone just one! I moved them in to get a CN212, which is great - I've never done a gig where the 212 wasn't loud enough.

That was me. 

 

Can't recall weight, but I'd guess between 20 and 25kg. Closer to 25 probably. 

 

Relatively easy lift and slid into the car with the seats down easily enough.

Currently weighing up the Laney DBV212-4 and the EBS S212CL cabs. I have a GK Legacy 112 Combo and a TH500 head that could both be used with these cabs. One reason for going 2x12 in vertical format is to get more sound higher up towards my ears. Leaning towards the EBS as it has built in castors and comes with a cover which is worth the extra £100... I think.

If anyone is looking for a cheapish but good 2x12, Promenade Music has a Gallien-Krueger 212 Neo cab in secondhand and I think it could be had for around £250.
