I genuinely had no idea Orange amps went back that far, Jack.

 

As for the Precision/Telecaster bass, I really don't like the sound. Sounds like he's hitting it way too hard, or the amp is distorting. What they had to work with in the 70s, I guess :)

No guarantee that what you’re hearing is what you’re seeing. Bruford is air drumming and Chris’ bass plays itself on more than one occasion (right hand behind his back).

Hard to tell from the clip but wouldn’t surprise me, it appears on so many early-mid 70’s clips. It always seemed an odd choice for a house bass given I suspect Charlie Tumahai was the only even vaguely famous player who routinely used one at the time 🤔

There's what appears to be a Telecaster guitar control plate alongside the standard 51 P-bass plate. Can't quite make out what pickup has been added but it does hint at Ric treble.
