bubinga5 Posted Friday at 20:27 Posted Friday at 20:27 Im looking at a budget 6 string and i spotted this. £479 from Thomann. If they fit I would be looking to put a Bartolini preamp and pickups in it.. Very much doubt it's an ebony fretboard. Love the body shape, it's an NT and they make a 7 string also. Has anyone played one. ? It's a BZ6000 Quote
crazycloud Posted Saturday at 05:08 Posted Saturday at 05:08 Nearly bought the earlier version, but couldn't make the connection with the seller to pick it up. I have 2 basses coming, one in the next week, and one in April (backordered) or I'd have one of these on order. Maybe after the 2026 bass arrives. So, buy one and review it and I'll live through your purchase, or be convinced not to get one. Do it, you know you really want to... 1 Quote

It was a sturdy bit of kit, ebonol fretboard will likely out live 5 generations. Pretty sure a couple of BC'ers bought the 6 string, @Owen ?, a lad from New Zealand started a thread when landing the 7 string. Went by the name "Annoying Twit", should be easy enough to find that thread. Oh, don't know if it applies to later versions but "weighty" was often used to describe the early ones 👍 Quote

The BZ-4000 was about the same as their JB-75, over 12lbs. I've nearly 45 years as a joiner under my belt. One length of 4 x 2 weighs 27lbs, two length on the left shoulder is common site practise. All comes down to balance, get that right and you don't notice 🙂 Quote

It was the 2nd of 4 6ers I have owned as I tried to get my head around them (see also fretless basses). It did everything right, but there is no denying it was a weighty piece of kit. Having said that, my present Overwater 6 is also weighty. So that is probably a 6 thing rather than a HB thing. Quote
