Nikzy Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Just joined by way of a great deal on a somewhat tinkered-with FCS. over the last 35yrs I have played anything from 2-12 strings and owned more gear than I can remember. When work and chauffeuring 2 young kids around allows, I try hard not to buy any wonderful gear offered at a decent price. 2 Quote
lowregisterhead Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Welcome from Woking. You might even want to consider attending the 'South East Bass Bash' in Crowthorne on the 9th of November to meet some more of the local yokels. We're everywhere! 😁 1 Quote
toneknob Posted September 26 Posted September 26 howdy from an ex-Guildford resident! I'm long overdue a good mooch around Andertons. Quote
SonnyBass95 Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Fellow Guildford resident. Be wary of Andertons!! You might become broke and homeless (-; What sort of music do you play? 1 Quote
Nikzy Posted September 27 Author Posted September 27 Funny you gents mention Andertons - lovely shop for trying gear, I ve only ever bought cables and some strings off them. So much wonderful used gear around for ridiculous prices I just can’t bring myself to buy anything new (and have not the last 15yrs probably). Musically i am extremely diverse, I grew up on Jaco and jazz greats but have dabbled in experimental ambient and even metal at times. 1 Quote
Kiwi Posted September 29 Posted September 29 I went in there last month and the Sire Z 5 bass I tried was pretty good but the bass selection overall was a little underwhelming. Anyhoo...welcome aboard. Try to avoid the market place if you want to stay solvent. 2 Quote
franzbassist Posted September 29 Posted September 29 Welcome! I've lived in the locality most of my life, and went to college in Guildford many years ago. I used to avoid Andertons as I found them condescending and unhelpful, but they are now absolutely top notch for service. I wouldn't hesitate to shop there. 1 Quote

They get the odd 2nd hand gem that comes in from time to time. My friend Caleb used to manage the bass dept and made a real effort with the display but it's not the most exciting selection. Great team in there tho...cant really fault the place! Quote
