Hey all,

Ā

Recently got one of these before the prices shot up! Great sounds can be had, would have preferred a higher level of QC but all works so overall okay.

Ā

Now to see if I can transfer the lines I can play on my basses to this ha ha 😁!

Yeah, I wanted the smaller size as when I plan to play it (at church) it’ll be in combo with electric bass, so I didn’t want to lug loads of extra stuff about. Also the price I got it for was pretty good tbh šŸ‘šŸ».

Ā

The Grandmother was on my possible list due to the larger keybed, but I thought presets would come in very useful.Ā
Ā

Lastly reading the Moog forums, there seemed to be a few problems that could occur, so buying new with an extended warranty (don’t normally get those) seemed to be prudent!

Ā

ps. I’ve also just pulled the trigger on a Novation BSII, and trying to find a DSI Mopho SE ha ha. I seem to have a Monosynth mania at the moment, no need for any polyphonicness for me 🤣

I recently went to watch a live band in a local pub. They are a pretty well known band in Ireland, never made the big time but are well respected.

Ā

The bassplayer had one of those on the rather cramped stage next to him. He played a total of 4 notes on it the entire gig.Ā

Ā

But then again, at one point in the gig, one of the 2 drummers on stage was playing a diggeridoo duel with a guitarist, also on a diggeridoo.

Ā

It's been a while since I saw anyone play a diggeridoo, now all of a sudden 2 show up at once. šŸ˜†Ā

Ā

Great gig, but madly chaotic at times.Ā

The didgeridoo duel should be mandatory in Spinal Tap 2 šŸ™€

These are amazing. I have one and love it. Admittedly, I've replaced all the patches with Nine Inch Nails-style industrial noise, but that's not the point.

Re: your QC comment, do you know if yours is a made in America, or one of the last batch that was made overseas since the InMusic acquisition? I've heard a few people that purchased these brand new in the last 12 months have similar complaints. This was part of the reason that 2nd hand prices rose even before they announced this was being discontinued, because people wanted pay a premium for a unit that was made in the Asheville factory before that stopped being a thing. Once they announced they were being discontinued, the prices jumped again. That said, still worth every penny.

If you have a US-made unit with QC issues, I'm really surprised, as they took some real pride in every unit that left the factory, in my experience.

I remember when I once had an issue with one of my Moogerfoogers, maybe 12 years ago. I emailed them, and then got a reply from the actual engineer that designed it. He said, "you could send it to the UK repair centre, but if you send it to me, I'll fix it up, and Ā upgrade some parts for you - I can do it on my lunch break next week". I mean, that was service! :)
Ā

There is a part of me that is considering selling this to get a 2nd hand US made 37 instead, just because I want more patches to save sounds in. I really love the size and format though. It rocks.
