This is the video that put me off, although i still think it’s a good purchase for the money.

Says that the EQ is boost only. All the other reviews I've seen say it's boost and cut.

I shall have more of a play tomorrow.

Thanks. If it’s boost and cut I’ll get one asap.

Just had a short play with it to confirm. Yes, it's boost/cut, just doesn't have a centre detente. As bass amps all have their own characteristic pre-baked EQ curves, centre detentes are a bit meaningless anyway. I think the reviewer doesn't understand the MID controls - the manual explains it, very briefly. It's a sweepable mid, with a MID FREQ control to set the frequency to cut/boost (200Hz to 2kHz) and a MID control to do the cutting/boosting.

Finally got to put the wee beastie through some of it's paces with the Jazz Bass this afternoon and I'm rather impressed. As a practice mini bass amp it's very good indeed. At first I thought the compressor wasn't working until I realised it works more like a limiter to tame transient notes rather than obviously squashing the sound and adding sustain..

I found that set about 3 o'clock I got a brilliant funk sound that made even my slapping sound half decent.

Has anyone with one of these used it as a guitar amp? Looking at maybe the Joyo + battery pack or Headrush FRFR Go to play either guitar or bass on the beach, for practice.

The Joyo would be the cheaper option by a bit, when it's available down here.

It would be nice to move away from headphones for home practice, so one of these could be ideal.

How could I play along to songs I'm learning with it?

Play them on it over bluetooth from your phone. If you press the bass knob it goes into Bluetooth mode.

If it's the type of device you will get a lot of use from it's still a bargain IMO, there's a comparison with the PJB X4 Nano on YouTube and the Joyo isn't out of its depth at all. Doesn't quite have the same depth but puts in a good showing and the slap tone with the Warwick is tasty

Just noticed... he seems to have completely missed that the Joyo has a gain knob....

Which definitely works (he says that it doesn't in the comments, let's see what he says to my reply on that).

I have joined the club!  I'm hoping that part of the reason I don't play at home much is the suitability of the stuff I have - the Markbass Mini CMD121P IV combo is neighbour annoyingly loud at like 1 on the master, has no aux in, no use for practising at all.  Up until now, I have been using my backup head (TC Electronic BH250) and that's OK, but it's headphone only unless I trot out a cab too, and while it has advantages (like the built in tuner) and has aux in, it's just a PITA to set up, especially for a quick blast, so I tend not to bother.

I've seen this thread with interest and watched a bunch of videos which didn't seem to be full of excrement which showed it in a favourable light, so I decided to go for it.  Got it on a deal on Amazon (ordered 12th December, in case you were wondering if a confession was needed in the Gear Abstinence thread...), took a while but it finally arrived today.

I'm very impressed!  I went in with reasonable expectations - I know it's not going to pull up any trees, and it's going to inevitably be a bit on the boxy side of tone, but it isn't half bad for all that.  Better in headphones than out loud, but not awful.  Bluetooth is less laggy than I was expecting, which is good when you're following music/tab on a screen whilst playing - it's still a wee bit behind but a lot less than previous Bluetooth devices I have tried to use to make aux in be cable free.

Haven't played with the USB audio interface part of it yet, but I've been using it for over 90 mins now with Bluetooth on, and the 11200mAh@5V power bank I have been using it with is still showing 4 out of 4 lights - which seems bonkers to me!  It'll probably just switch off all of a sudden, but it's still working as I type!

I may return with more thoughts at a later date, but I think this is an excellent piece of kit and I'm very glad to remove at least one excuse for not practicing as much as I should...

Didn't it come with a mains psu?

Or are you just experimenting with a power bank?

Yes, it came with a PSU, I was curious to try the USB power feature. I am very surprised at how long it lasted - got tired of waiting for it to indicate even 25% usage after 90 mins.
