petetexas Posted Tuesday at 11:51 Posted Tuesday at 11:51 (edited) Hi all, Just took delivery of above, 69Ib of pure heaven on castors. Considering the age (17 years old) not bad condition. Trying to gather as much info on known faults, just in case! Pete Edited Tuesday at 17:37 by petetexas 8 Quote
petetexas Posted Tuesday at 17:53 Author Posted Tuesday at 17:53 (edited) Just for you BassmanPaul,,,,,,,,,,,,,pics added 😊😊😊 Due to the ill health of my wife ( Parkinsons and Dementia ) my life , and playing in bands , stopped two years ago, and I now care for her 24/7 . The only little bit I have of my life is playing bass for five or ten minutes a day , the rest of the day is caring for her . This came up on Reverb over here at £199 ,,,,,,,,,,,,how could I not buy it . I aint got many years left myself ( I`m 78) so why not treat myself . Its heavy (69Ib) but what a sound . It takes me back to when I started playing in the early 60`s Pete Edited Tuesday at 17:55 by petetexas 9 Quote
BassmanPaul Posted Tuesday at 18:18 Posted Tuesday at 18:18 Hey Pete, I have some inkling of what you are going through and I wish You all the strength you'll need to get through it. In 1988 when he was sixteen my younger son was involved in a car acccident that left him with a broken neck a paralised from the shoulders down. Our lives changed drastically. We had to find a new house that could be renovated to suit his needs. After a search involving 75 houses we found this one. The changes, like adding an elevator, cost $187K which we had to find! Cut to present day and he bought himself a Condo and went out with his attendant one day and never came back! But that's enough of my story. I no longer play out and haven't picked up a bass since the time of Covid. That said I do have a lot of knowledge and try to pass it on to help my fellows. 5 Quote
ped Posted Tuesday at 18:41 Posted Tuesday at 18:41 Blimey chaps. I can’t imagine the difficulties you have faced but this really illustrates the importance of our hobby and the pleasure it can bring. For me, playing, talking about gear and buying stuff has always been an escape from far less pressing concerns. All the best to you both. I love that amp, beautiful looking thing. Enjoy 3 Quote

Pete Hi pete, I like a bit of Ampeg myself, that looks great and don’t think they are particularly prone to any faults really, just play it and enjoy it whenever you can, good luck to you 2 Quote
petetexas Posted yesterday at 07:00 Author Posted yesterday at 07:00 This amp reminds me so much of the Ampeg Combo my uncle loaned me when I first moved from Guitar to Bass in the early sixties. He played an upright Bass into his Ampeg Combo, in a local Rock n Roll band. Thinking back, the amp portion came out at the back on some hinge unit, then you clipped it onto the top. Have not seen any pictures of that type of Ampeg Combo yet, also he must have been earning some money to afford one! I can still see him in my mind, getting onto a double decker bus, sliding his upright Bass under the stairs in its brown canvas cover, then rolling the Combo in and packing something around it to stop it rolling out! He progressed from using local bus services, to building a two wheeled trolly to pull along behind his push bike. THEM WERE THE DAYS! Anyhow, on closer looking at this Combo, from the serial number, it was made in China for the UK market 2009, (21)DYUUVA0006. Reading on the web, one of the issues this model made in China has had, is the With Horn / Without Horn sockets at the back. Apparently, there was some confusion regarding the earth on the Without Horn socket between Loud Technology and China when they first started manufacturing, which led to a lot of the Amps being fried, if you unplugged the cable from With Horn to Without Horn. This combo has it plugged in the With Horn and that’s where it is staying. The chassis is loose from the cabinet on the RH side, which I will take a look at when I get time Apart from the chassis being loose and finding a way to verify the horn (without frying the output) this amp is a keeper. Sorry about the long read, but these things keep coming back to you when you get to my age. Got to go now, can hear the misses waking up. Pete 2 Quote
Lozz196 Posted yesterday at 08:43 Posted yesterday at 08:43 That amp has a real classic look. I remember reading about them and all reviews were good, so think you`ve got a good score there Pete. Quote
petetexas Posted yesterday at 09:08 Author Posted yesterday at 09:08 Thanks Lozz, have you still got my cab I sold you 3 years ago ? Pete Quote
Lozz196 Posted yesterday at 10:23 Posted yesterday at 10:23 Hi Pete No, with the way I move my gear on much (actually make that very much) has come & gone in that period. And much more to go too now I`m giving up gigging. Quote
BassmanPaul Posted yesterday at 16:12 Posted yesterday at 16:12 I too am going through my gear and giving away pieces os I go along. I have so much equipment that I hardly know where to start! LOL Quote
petetexas Posted 17 hours ago Author Posted 17 hours ago After my five mins of using the amp last night, when I moved the amp back into the corner. I found this on the floor (see picture below) This must have fallen out of the back Now I know why the chassis is loosen one side – it’s the cage nut and the chassis flange that should hold it in place – broken off. STILL KEEPING THE COMBO ! Just read an article on how to check the “With Horn”, “Without Horn” sockets on the B200R. This one has had the mod, 4ohms reading “Without Horn” Pete 3 Quote
