Scott 999 Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Ok, so having settled on the above pairing, I've finally put them together and... nothing, no sound. I don't have another cab or head to test them individually at the moment Am no wondering if I'm doing so thing daft. Has anyone else had this issue P.s. it's not the mute switch Pps I'm using an nl2 speakon to jack cable Quote
BassmanPaul Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Thy a different speaker cable would be the first step. A speaker cabinet can be easily checked for operation by using a jack cable into the cabinet and touching the terminals of a 9V battery across the other end. Should produce a hearty thump from the speakers. 1 Quote
BassmanPaul Posted June 28 Posted June 28 Just as a thought: does the amp have an Effects Loop? If it does then try linking the Send and Return jacks with a signal cable. The normalizing contacts on these jacks are notorious for corrosion because they are not used that often. When this happens they fail to pass a signal through the loop. Quote
BassmanPaul Posted June 29 Posted June 29 (edited) OK You've had more than a day - what news? Edited July 2 by BassmanPaul Quote
BassmanPaul Posted July 2 Posted July 2 (edited) Hello @Scott 999 - is anybody out there? Edited July 2 by BassmanPaul Quote
BassAdder60 Posted July 4 Posted July 4 Just a guess but does the V7 have a headphone switch ? I recall Ashdown did this as well and it mutes the main speaker out ! Just a thought Quote

Just a thought That’s a good call, the amount of times I’ve panicked at a gig when my RM500 didn’t work only for it to be this. Quote
BassmanPaul Posted July 4 Posted July 4 (edited) @Scot 999 The OP hasn't been back since the day he joined up so I guess nothing we say is of interest to him. Sad that! Edited July 4 by BassmanPaul Quote

If you put the RM heads into their little woolly gig bag, that switch inevitably gets pressed. I love my RM800, but that's a definite design flaw! Quote
Lozz196 Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Yeah I’ve actually printed out on Dymo tape an instruction to check that if no output, and stuck it on the amp panel near the controls. 1 Quote
police squad Posted yesterday at 07:19 Posted yesterday at 07:19 bloody switch! I have to press it in and out a few times otherwise it sort of cuts out/crackles Great amp though Quote
BassmanPaul Posted yesterday at 14:03 Posted yesterday at 14:03 A short spray of Deoxit should fix that for you. Shouldn't cost too much for a tech to fix this for you. Quote

BassmanPaul Posted yesterday at 19:04 Posted yesterday at 19:04 Remember less is more when it comes to DeOxit! Quote
Downunderwonder Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago When it comes to the OP, less would be nothing at all. DeOxit has wrecked a lot of gear according to Agedhorse. Less is more is a good maxim. 1 Quote

Less is more is a good maxim. DeOxit or any cleaner can only be a temporary solution to noisy pots, any contact or switch cleaner should be used sparingly. In this case, the effects loop is two switches and the contacts can only really be accessed from within the case. For switches or switching jacks, I recommend a standard switch or contact cleaner, which is both cheaper and probably more effective. The other option, although not ideal, is to install a patch cable into the EFX loop, although even those contacts may corrode over time. Quote
