nuno1959 Posted yesterday at 20:15 Posted yesterday at 20:15 Hi guys I have an Epifani UL 501 bass head i use with an Epifani UL2 410 at 4Ohms in our rehearsing studio down here in the south of Portugal. Some bands come in every now and then and i let them use my cab w/ a Warwick head to spare them lugging cabs back and forth. The other day i forgot to unplug my amp from the cab & although it was clearly visible there was another cable connected to it, the next guy just plugged in the Warwick effectively connecting both amps via the cab and my guess is my amp was fed the Warwick's 300 or so watts for the duration of their rehearsal - 1 hour, 1.30..? When i returned to play, upon switching my amp on i just heard a semi loud "thump" sound and no led my amp, nothing... Checked all cables, fuse, everything was fine. I contacted my tech and he told me that it would be super useful if i could get him the schematics of my amp as he always has LOADS of work in hand and couldn't really search for it, etc... I've already contacted Epifani a few days ago but so far i haven't heard back from them so... in an attempt to speed things up i was wondering if by any chance someone here would have the schematics they could either share with me or even sell them to me so i can get my amp repaired asap ? Or maybe even some links to a site that has it or, or, or....? I have looked all over for these online but with no success. Thanks in advance for any help Nuno Quote
BassmanPaul Posted yesterday at 20:44 Posted yesterday at 20:44 I would contact Epifani and ask them for the schematic. If nothing else they could suggest a place to take the amp to for repair. In future take the amp home with you to prevent unauthorized use. Is the guilty player going to cough up for the repair? 1 Quote
nuno1959 Posted 20 hours ago Author Posted 20 hours ago I did contact Epifani a couple of days ago, obviously it's the week end, etc.. but i'm on fire to get it done so, i'm just trying to hasten things. Unfortunately in my country there is no Epifani importer but my tech is super duper good but he would like to have a look at the schematics before tackling the job The use of it wasn't unauthorised, the guy was/is just plain dumb - upon seeing a speaker cable connected to my amp he still went ahead and connected the other amp to the cab because.. errr.... that's what you do ! I didn't bother asking him to pay, can't be bothered wasting time, getting nervous or listen to some stupid excuses, however from now on NO ONE will be allowed to use it and can start carrying back and forth their own 30 kg cabs. Needless to say, every bass player that rehearses there now loves him..... Quote
Hellzero Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago As you're not an authorised tech, there are very little chances that Epifani will send you a schematic, but if your tech is an authorised one, I mean someone who is doing it as it's official day job, he will get the schematic from Epifani as it's mandatory (even if Americans have a huge tendency to sit on this). So tell him to ask Epifani himself. 😉 Quote
itu Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Sometimes speaker outputs have relays, or fuses. Such a device may protect the power amp circuitry, but without schema the only chance is to look inside and try to understand the circuitry. Quote
BassmanPaul Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago People are allowed to protect their intellectual property and this includes schematic diagrams. If there is something "special" within that diagram sending out copies willy nilly means that anyone can clone that piece of 'special" rendering it worthless. Quote
nuno1959 Posted 2 hours ago Author Posted 2 hours ago Yup, that's obvious but then again, there's reverse engineering....? As some manufacturers do, Behringer anyone ? 😉 I just want to save my tech & myself some time as during summer time he is overloaded w/ work - tourist season/live music all over & all that jazz.. Not being able to use my amp sucks and i'm hoping Epifani will not "punish me" for being a client of theirs for over 20 years and 3 rigs in a country that hasn't got an importer 2 hours ago, BassmanPaul said: People are allowed to protect their intellectual property and this includes schematic diagrams. Merton Posted 21 minutes ago Posted 21 minutes ago I’d put money on the power amp being an OEM module like the ICEPower units so prevalent these days. Open it up and have a look - if so, you probably wont need a schematic, just a replacement power amp board. Won’t be cheap but I doubt there are many chances of being able to switch out a couple of components on these modern PCBs Quote
nuno1959 Posted 16 minutes ago Author Posted 16 minutes ago (edited) made a mistake and can't figure how to delete it.. sorry Edited 14 minutes ago by nuno1959 mistake Quote

No D class.. Quote
nuno1959 Posted 12 minutes ago Author Posted 12 minutes ago OK guys, i can see this is not really going anywhere so.. I'll keep looking elsewhere. Many thanks to you all for your tips. Over and out ! Quote
