How did you get on programming the MIDI switcher?

Haven't yet - on my list of things to do. From what I have read / watched though it looks pretty straight forward and i reckon I won't be doing much more than what @dave_bass5 is doing... turning stuff off and on and moving up and down patches...

I got mine off Aliexpress and Temu (got two, long story). Arrived within a week and cost about £20 each. I couldn't find anywhere in the UK that sold them at a reasonable price.

Mine is coming from Temu as well - about £20 as you mentioned. Bargain for that price! Amazon was quicker for delivery but and extra £15 or so...

I couldn’t find one on Amazon for a decent price. All the normal priced ones said i was outside of the delivery zone (central london). I’m not sure why they are on Amazon UK if that’s the case.

I found them on prime delivery but at £42... would rather wait a few more days and get it for half the price!

Yeah, to me that’s way too expensive for what it is.

Have any of you GP-5 owners been able to record some of the fx and amp and cab sims to give us a sense of how decent the GP-5 is as a multi-fx?

So, a very quick and rough bash with some recording. SRay5 straight into the GP-5, into my interface. Haven't set it up as an independent interface yet.

Bass mp3 file - 2 NAM files downloaded from Tone3000 - EBS Bass Rig first, GR Bass Cube second and then the standard finger bass preset the GP-5 comes with.

the rest should be as they are described. very much FX loaded as they come - very little faffing or editing (please excuse the playing) - will hopefully give you an idea. The only thing for me is controlling how much FX (chorus etc.) that you can add - no wet / dry mix level - or am I missing something here?? I would have liked a touch more chorus and phaser. But, I don't really need a phaser so it's a moot point for me!

Anyway... I hope this helps. It's a great little pedal - I only really intend to use it as a preamp / NAM loading pedal with maybe a smidge of chorus so will suit me perfectly!

Carl.

So the order is:

Bass with Chorus and reverb

Bass with chorus

Bass drive (preset)

Bass and octaver - probably it's weak point

Bass phaser

Bass slap (preset)

Bass NAM files and bass finger preset

Amazing thanks! Looking forward to having a listen, as I'm sure others are!

Exactly the sort of post that makes BC such a great forum - thanks Carl!

No worries.

That sounds fine for what it is, some extra effects, as long as you make sure the octaver never gets switched on!

A shame the octaver is so poor - given how good the Valeton OC10 was. But I guess that was an analogue version (rip-off?) of the Boss OC2 rather than being digital. Multi-fx always seem to struggle with pitch-shift, some doing it better than others, so I guess no real surprise?

Yeah the octaver is definitely the weak point with the pedal. Saying that, it isn't strictly an octaver, it's a pitch shift effect so maybe an octave is too far for it (anyone using a transpose function in a DAW will know this). I sold an OC-10 recently and it was a cracking little pedal so it is a shame this part is so weak. Again, as @Al Krow mentions, an analogue pedal vs a digital recreation is always going to be poor mans version.

Saying that, I don't see myself using it for this anyway, and as a preamp / modeller / NAM pedal, I think it's a cracking bit of kit. My only gripe is that the mod effects don't have a wet / dry mix control, delay and reverbs do, but I would have preferred to be able to control how much chorus I add to my sound. Yes, I can tame it with the controls but a wet / dry mix level should really be there in my view.

Agree, the Modulation effects are very limited.

but not that they are bad. I'm quite enjoying the chorus B atm

Oh yeah, not knocking them as such, just wish they had a few more options.
