Jackroadkill Posted Saturday at 19:33 Author Posted Saturday at 19:33 I managed to get some workshop time in today, and scrubbed the Tolex clean (well, cleaner, at any rate). Then I was able to connect the speakers, screw them in and replace the grille, which I'd cleaned with a carefully-applied pressure washer. I hooked it all up to two different amps and tried it out; oh my goodness it's loud! I also noticed that it made the differences between each amp very apparent, so I'm happy about that; it also gave a lot of definition in terms of the tone and volume controls on the (cheap plywood) bass. So far I'm very happy with it. Thanks once again to everyone who chipped in with advice etc; I'm looking forward to getting it into the practise room on Tuesday and giving it a workout. Cheers, JRK 8 Quote

Depends if the copper was laid east/west or north/south when it was made. Also check the moon phase, you will find it makes a clearly obvious sound difference. I had a some speaker cable and changing how it lay so it aligned with the Feng Shui in the living room made such a difference. I also only play the bass when I am orientated NW now because of this. Ask the retailer for the cable direction and orientation information. All the retailers have it, but they pretend they don't and tell you it's nonsense. You need to keep asking, if you went into the shop with a special hat made of Bacofoil, but make sure its shiny side in and not out, that immediately tells them you are special and can be trusted with the truth. Trust me on this. Let me know how it goes Rob I had heard that for optimum sound you should not connect any cables on Fridays … Quote

Bill Fitzmaurice Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Want to become an audiophile? First cut a small hole in one of your pants pockets, about a half inch across. Walk to the nearest toy store, buy a packet of marbles. Empty the packet into the pocket with the hole cut in it. Walk home. As you’re walking one by one the marbles will fall through the hole in your pocket. When you’ve lost all your marbles congratulations! You’re now an audiophile! 4 Quote

Talking of pushing air, those ports really do their job. I could feel my shorts flapping when I turned the wick up. 1 Quote
