spyder Posted August 8 Posted August 8 The difference between the Behringer X18 and Midas MR18 is quite subtle. When I put them side by side there was definitely more detail and air from the Midas. At a gig with all the ambient noise there would be very little in it. I also prefer the locking XLRs on the Midas. 1 Quote
Steve Browning Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Having used my XR18 for a good few gigs now, and having slightly struggled with the Android version of XR Edit, I have switched to Mixing Station. The customisation is a bit bewildering, but the visual is consistent across operating systems and it's more intuitive. I hadn't had any problems with Edit but Mixing Station has the reputation of being more stable also. Quote
tauzero Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Can you effectively import your settings from XR Edit into Mixing Station by loading a snapshot into the XR18 from XR Edit and then opening Mixing Station? Will it pick up the current settings in the XR18? Just wondering as it would save hours of mucking around transferring settings. Quote
Steve Browning Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Yes. The settings are within the XR18. The snapshots are all there and can be called up in Mixing Station. It's seamless. Quote
Steve Browning Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I should say that you are advised to load settings from the mixer to the device. If you have done that, my advice above will be accurate. The settings are within the XR18 and not held externally. 1 Quote
JapanAxe Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I’ve had my XR18 about 18 months now. About the same time I got a lap steel with palm levers and had to learn an open tuning. They both had a steep learning curve but I started using the XR18 on rehearsals within a month, whereas I’ve just done my first lap steel gig. Even so, I keep finding things with the XR18 that I’m either doing wrong or could be doing better. I mainly use Mixing Station as it allows you to group together the controls you actually need on a couple of screens, plus I can set up other band members so that only mess up their own monitor mix! I occasionally use X-Air at home for deep dives to check what I’m doing. The biggest problem I have found with Mixing Station is locations where there is little or no Internet. MS then decides that one or more users doesn’t have an iOS Pro licence and we have to go somewhere with Internet to refresh the licence. It’s a right palaver doing that 4 times in a row before playing a note! 1 Quote

The advice is to use an external router and utilise the resulting wifi from the router. There is no need for an internet connection. Unless I'm missing something anyway. 1 Quote

All our devices connect to the XR18 via an external router. If our devices don't have a good connection to the WWW immediately before we use them on the router's local network, Mixing Station seems to throw a wobbly about the licence - at least sometimes.
