"Half volume" does not mean 100W being put out. Trace advised the SMX preamp as putting out enough at '4' to fully drive an amplifier. They provided extra gain in case a low sensitivity amp was encountered. Turning it past 4 won't get any more out of a Trace amp. 1 Quote
Russ Posted February 11 Posted February 11 I'd forgotten how heavy old Trace gear was. I was in my local music shop the other day and they had an old BLX-80 sitting there. I always remembered those being louder and bassier than they had any right to be. Then I went to move it so I could plug it in... holy crap. The thing weighed more than my Barefaced BT2, and it's only a 1x10". They do still sound great though. 1 1 Quote
SimonK Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Played through these two Trace Cabs on Sunday (2103x & 1153) - I only ever move them about two feet to the right to get them out of the way when we finish playing though. Sound awesome especially with the Aguillar head. 1 Quote
Eric_Wombat Posted February 15 Posted February 15 I’m sure I heard my neighbours groan as I unloaded my newly acquired TE gear this afternoon 😆 4 1 Quote

lemmywinks Posted Thursday at 10:49 Posted Thursday at 10:49 (edited) Although a 15ft Trace speaker might be a bit too heavy for most of us, will bury that weedy little 18" you played through! Edited Thursday at 10:49 by lemmywinks 4 Quote

I thinks it's a compilation of the then current endorsees/users of Trace Elliot gear.....😉👍 Yes! Still got my copy lurking somewhere. I could never understand why on earth they included that last track. The sound quality is absolutely horrible, it sounds like a partially chewed cassette being played on an Amstrad tape player that has been dug out of a landfill. I don't think I've ever listened to that track all the way through. 2 Quote
Rich Posted Thursday at 10:58 Posted Thursday at 10:58 I seem to recall back in the day reading quotes from a few name players who reckoned Trace's cabs weren't half as good as their amps. Can't remember who now. Anyone else remember this? Quote
