Up for grabs is my Sei Jazz 5 string bass. Made by Martin Petersen at the Bass Gallery. I believe its either a 2004 or 2007 model, but I am unsure about this? Suggested below it could be from 2002...

Specs as follows....
34" Scale
Swamp ash body with tiger maple top
Maple neck (highly figured) with Birdseye maple fretboard
Bartolini J pickups

Shuker 3 band preamp - Volume (push/pull for active/passive), Pan, Mid (sweep control inside cavity), Bass/treble stack.

Rosewood control knobs

Weight is around 3.9Kg.

This is a bass that has been used by several owners, and as a result has some minor bumps and marks. I have tried to photograph the worst. None of them effect the playing of this instrument, and its is very comfortable and easy to play. Frets are even and look in decent condition, however, they are very shallow, so I do not know if this is the way it was made, or someone got a little too excited while crowning the frets.. Its still plays well, however, if you prefer medium frets, you may want to consider a refret? This would be about £200 to £250 depending who did it and what you had done? The bass has no case, so I would advise bringing one should you decide to buy it.

Its been a great bass for me for the past two years, but needs must. Collection from Sheffield, or will meet within reasonable distance. Sometimes around the Liverpool and Kendal areas too.

May consider partial/full trades for similar level custom 5's (Shuker/Sei/Goodfellow/Mayones/etc) or bass gear (PJB Compact 8/Vanderkley/Markbass 210 etc), but ideally cash for this one.

Pretty sure this was made by Martin for me ? 😀 Just been checking some pics and I'm 99.9% certain .  If so , it was made in 2002 ( or around that time ? ) It had a Schack preamp in it as I recall  ?  . . .  Anyway  . . . it still looks beautiful .

Good luck with the sale , it's a lovely bass and great to see it again .

Thanks for the info. I had a Shuker pre put in it recently, as its a pre I know and trust from my, er, Shukers. Wasn't a Shack in there beforehand, though, but rather a Sadowsky... Obviously that could have been replaced at any point along the way? Its one of those basses that will be sorely missed, but life etc... You know the drill!

Regards

G!

Always regretted selling my Sei Jazz and this looks great. Can you get a low action on this? Video ir sound files available at all? Thanks.

It is a pretty low action. I don't like high actions. I will try and get some pics of the action. Unable to do video or sound at the moment.

Cheers
