rwillett Posted November 4 Posted November 4 (edited) As it's raining, I thought I'd look at speaker corners. I brought some from a supplier and they are thin and weedy. So thought I'd design some of my own. Also the front of the speaker is slightly different to the rear of the speaker and a different design would benefit here as the baffle is recessed. The back speaker corners are more traditional These are all 5mm thick and around 60mm x 60mm. Other sizes may be done if enough interest. Mmmm.... after looking at the still printing one, 60x60mm may be too big. Its chunky Happy to print them out for free for a suitable donation to the North West Air Ambulance. I'll post pictures when they are on the speaker. Thanks Rob Edited November 4 by rwillett 6 1 Quote
martin8708 Posted Wednesday at 20:45 Posted Wednesday at 20:45 Baffle cut and cab screwed together,( will glue and screw when happy everything fits ) Back panel cut , just need to wait for when the neighbours are out to check for any buzzing or rattles . 13 Quote
rwillett Posted yesterday at 09:32 Posted yesterday at 09:32 (edited) I've just looked at the plans again as something was bothering me. I was wondering why the 274mm measurements on the sides and top and bottom aren't 276mm to make cutting easier. Changing that measurement to 276mm merely extends out the front pieces beyond the baffle by 2mm so it's 12mm rather than 10mm. It has no impact on the volume but it means all pieces can be cut from a strips of ply 276mm wide. I think it also saves at least one cut and possibly two. No more fiddling with a 2mm difference. There are a number of different ways to cut it out of a sheet 1440 x 660mm.My topology skills are limited so I couldn't work out all the permutations. Anything that simplifies things seems a good idea to me. I'm sure I have this wrong but where have I misunderstood? Thanks Rob Edited yesterday at 10:23 by rwillett 1 Quote
Bassybert Posted yesterday at 12:03 Posted yesterday at 12:03 You haven’t got it wrong Rob it’s something @stevie picked up on back when I put the pdf together from Phil’s design. @Phil Starr It’s not a problem for me to update the designs to make all cutting widths the same if you’re ok with that? 3 1 Quote

I thought there would be a clever explanation about allowing for the width of the sawcut 😁 1 Quote

Let's do that then, once I have that I can amend the earlier posts. and I can put @rwillett's cutting list up under the plans. Thanks guys, it's why I like it when somebody builds the plans. It's the little details that make it easier for other people to follow and once a few people have completed the build you do spot little errors. 2 Quote
Phil Starr Posted 7 hours ago Author Posted 7 hours ago (edited) BTW I demo'd six cabs at the SE Bass Bash yesterday all running off PA amps set flat and adjusted so the levels were the same. The 1x8 was a clear winner repeating the performance at the SW Bass Bash. Edited 7 hours ago by Phil Starr 5 Quote

I'll redo my quick cutting list so it's a little clearer and tidier. @Bassybert how do you want to incorporate a suggested cut list? I can send you it it in Fusion 360 or I can try and find something else. There are a number of ways to cut and if you have a long cutting guide rail, that's one way and a short cutting guide rail a different way. Or Should I just create a separate PDF with my ideas in? Not fussed either way. Rob Edited 7 hours ago by rwillett Quote

That'll make it easier for people going to B&Q or a timber merchants for cutting. 1 Quote

I've been using mine at rehearsals with a real drummer and in quite a big hall it works well. Potentially you'd have 6db louder than that so yes that would be good 2 Quote
Phil Starr Posted 7 hours ago Author Posted 7 hours ago I should probably go, I'm supposed to be practicing for tomorow's rehearsal 1 Quote
