What cabs do I need for my amp head?

I’m a total novice with this info, please help!

I have a BH250w with x1 speakon connector in the back. I want to connect it to x2 8ohm cabs, both of which have x1 jack cable in each.

how do I connect my head to both of the cabs? I can connect to x1 8ohm cab but it doesn’t sound loud enough even cranked?

Can I use a splitter? Help please.

I don't think you can......

To use both cabs you either need twin outputs from the amp or alternatively cabs with 2 sockets on the back so you can daisy chain them all.

You can't use a splitter though

And you'll only be pulling about 125/130 watts out of the amp as it is now which probably isn't loud enough for a band scenario

Thanks for the response! I’ve found x1 speakon to x2 speakon splitter; using this simply won’t work then?

and you’re right I had it connect to x1 cab and there’s just wasn’t enough volume.

My apologies - as BassmanPaul says, the splitter should work

Your amplifier has a minimum load of 4Ω. You can connect ONE 4Ω cabinet to it. You can also connect TWO 8Ω cabinets to the amp using a two to one SpeakOn splitter. That equates to a 4Ω total load.

Amazing thank you so much! Makes sense to me; I’ll find myself a splitter and another cable.

What cabs are they? If the backplate is big enough and easily accessible it might be a better bet to get a parallel input/output installed in one (or both) of them.

The BH250 is a cool amp but not the loudest, you can get more perceived volume out of it with the Spectracomp Toneprint loaded and set to around 9 o'clock.

Don’t worry too much about the volume. Back in the day 200W was considered a loud amp and with decently efficient speakers even 100W would do the job. Electronics have improved bringing down the price per watt and we all pretty much carry more amp power than we strictly need. Unless your band operate at ‘stupid’ volumes (because this will damage your hearing) then 200W will be plenty.

Using a compressor like the spectrocomp is great advice, you can bring up the average level without the peaks distorting. If you do think your sound is distorting roll off the bass a little it will clean up your sound in the mix anyway and protect both amp and speakers.

One would be quite sufficient as it doesn't matter which cab is taken to the gig.

Other option is an extra jack plate, doesn't have to be fancy.
