franzbassist Posted October 1, 2022 Share Posted October 1, 2022 IIRC they were Czech made late 80s early 90s and are a rebadged MTD "Grendel" (which in turn became the MTD Kingston). It's a very similar neck profile to a US MTD, and my Groove Shoppe GS5 which also has a MT licensed neck. In other words, pretty comfy, asymmetric profile too. The previous owner installed another Bart pre (ntmb-918f), with similar controls to a US MTD. Vol (active/passive push/pull), bal, bass/treb, mid and 3-way mid-freq select. It's also running at 18v, so they probably enlarged the battery compartment too to fit the extra battery. It's a fairly tidy job on the battery cavity though, so difficult to say if it was like that originally or not. From the pictures, they may have just removed the original integrated battery holder and then there was just enough space (it's a pretty tight fit) for 2 x 9v. The pickups are barts, and look similar to those in the pictures, so probably original, non-exposed pole pieces. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
