Philverado Posted September 20, 2022 Posted September 20, 2022 Hi all, done a bunch of research and have decided on one of the above. I have a few questions for anyone who owns them.Ā Iām replacing an MB Big Bang which has a new career as a smoke machine.Ā Currently playing into a BF supermidget, no pedals or effects. I āmayā add another cab in the future as Iām usually running about 3/4 of the SMās limit.Ā Iām looking for warm, rounded and loud (without sounding angry) and a little touch of drive depending on the situation.Ā I think any of the above will do what I want - do I pony up the extra dosh for the T900? Can I live with the stupid top vents on the Minimega and have to work out somewhere for my wireless? Is the Ashdown built better than some I used many years ago?Ā Delighted to listen to experience.Ā Many thanks, Phil š» Ā Quote
Lozz196 Posted September 20, 2022 Posted September 20, 2022 My only experience with any of the amps listed is the Ashdown - the 500 watt version. Great little amp, very powerful, and the āheftiestā sounding Class D amp Iāve had. Would fit your list of requirements, plus based in the UK with great customer service so in the unlikely event that it develops a fault pretty easy to get sorted. 1 Quote
fretmeister Posted September 20, 2022 Posted September 20, 2022 I have the rm800 evo 2 and I used to have the Puma (the same as the eich before their boardroom arguments] Ā The Ashdown is a lot warmer. I thought the Puma was really sterile sounding no matter what I did with the controls. I ended up using it as a power amp with different preamp pedals instead. 2 Quote
javi_bassist Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 If you like warmer, I'd go with the Ashdown. I have RM500 Evo and it's a great amp that never let me down. The T900 is more clean I guess, more modern sounding. Great amp too, but might not be what you are looking for.Ā 1 Quote
MacDaddy Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 Can't comment on the OP's choice, but just for a contrary opinion, I have a Puma 500 and it sounds lovely and warm. 2 Quote

Ander87 Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 (edited) @PhilveradoĀ I've got a T900 on sale for peanuts - and obviously that may not sound objective, but if it helps it's the only amp I've bought twice. Ā Clean, good treble whilst much warmer than GK, direct and with good character - the taste knob takes you from Motown warmth to a scoop modern slap tone in a twist. Can't get a wrong tone out of it. Ā One of the few amps that will do 600w at 4 ohm too... and the 1.7kg for 900w is a ridiculous form factor! Ā Even if you buy new or not from me, my vote goes to the T900, without a doubt! Ā I've played the RM500 and RM800 and consider them quite blurry especially by comparison. Edited November 16, 2022 by Ander87 SOLD, no longer available!!! 2 Quote
