Clarky
This always stays with me as utterly beautiful. Wistful vocals and Danny Thompson as super DB support. And if you don't like it, each to their own! 11

TheRev
That version of Solid Air was the reason I started playing double bass. Its the perfect blend of supportive playing with lots of space plus a beautifully lyrical solo.
BreadBin
Solid Air is one of the albums of my formative years. That's a really great version 🙂
Old Horse Murphy
This is probably my favourite Martyn/Thompson collaboration. Just sublime.

My first exposure to Danny was on David Sylvian’s Ink in the Well. I didn’t know who DT was (I’d only recently stared playing bass), but that sound! Sorry, I know this is a JM/DT thread, but I can’t not post this…
Clarky
Ink in the Well was my first exposure to DB too, always loved DT's sinuous growly bass line(s) on that song. Orpheus on a later DS album Secrets of the Beehive is also wonderful
TheRev
Let's not forget Danny's mastery of the 'bass face' - check the end if his solo at 4:10... 4
