fretmeister
I'm thinking about a bit of a bitsa / cheap bass project. The P pickup will be a Relentless which is quite high output. Dimarzio don't do a Relentless J to go with it so I need some ideas for a Jazz pickup or maybe a soapbar that won't be completely overpowered by the P. The bass will be completely passive. Vol / Tone and then either a balance or a 3 way switch depending on what I've got in the Trunk of Parts. Can anyone recommend a good chunky J / soapbar? ta
acidbass
Di Marzio are on the verge of releasing a Relentless J pickup/set. I saw Billy Sheehan mentioning it somewhere within the last week.

I have now emailed Dimarzio for a recommendation and they suggested the Ultra Jazz pickup that’s been around for years.

They were never going to recommend a Seymour Duncan! If its the shiny chrome relentless I'd put in a Kent Armstrong jazz lipstick—purely for looks, but they are great sounding pickups. I used to use a pair of 'em when a highway 1 jazz was my number one gigging bass.

Dov65
Just stuck an Aguilar JHC split coil Jazz into my old Kramer there. I had some trouble with this 60 cycle hum and very nasal sound issue when both volumes were at max. Haven't seen the specs on these new Relentless Jazz pickups....maybe they are split coil I don't know, happy days if they are.
