Hydra19 Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 (edited) Crews Maniac Sound P bass in dark lake placid blue with 'cloudy' lacquer finish. This one has the 5D Power bomb pickup which is highly respected and vintage sounding. Nut width is around 42mm, very comfortable neck, and a vintage style bridge. Weight is 4kg In terms of trades, I would like an Aria Pro II sb1000 or sb900, or would consider a white p bass Edited November 27, 2022 by Hydra19 16 Quote
wateroftyne Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 What’s the story with these? Can find much about them. What weight is it? Looks lovely. Quote
Hydra19 Posted June 13, 2022 Author Posted June 13, 2022 The weight is around 4kg, I don't notice any weight difference vs my other P basses. Crews Maniac Sound is a brand originally associated with MusicLand store in Japan, they ordered some guitars and they sold quickly. From what I've read their guitars are made either by Momose (PNG) or Terade factories that also made the Gibson by Orville copies. Anyway, their Les Paul line of guitars is highly respected on the Les Paul forums, and some models, called 5D go for over £3500, so pretty high end. Also they also make their own pickups and one of the builders is the person who built the Dry Z greco pickups that are very expensive used if you can find any. This bass has great specs for the price, 2 piece body, Power Bomb pickup, vintage spiral bridge, nitro finish and gotoh pots. It's currently strung with Rotosound Swing 66's and sound growly and deep. 3 1 Quote
Hydra19 Posted June 23, 2022 Author Posted June 23, 2022 Would love to trade it for an Aria Pro SB700 or SB900 Quote
Hydra19 Posted June 26, 2022 Author Posted June 26, 2022 Anybody have a Fender Japan PB bass they'd like to trade? Quote
Hydra19 Posted July 10, 2022 Author Posted July 10, 2022 (edited) Bump, I'll take £750 for this or trade it for another bass, anybody got anything or does nobody want this bass? Edited July 11, 2022 by Hydra19 Quote
Hydra19 Posted July 20, 2022 Author Posted July 20, 2022 Bump, a high end Japanese bass going cheap, interested in trades as well Quote
mikeycrikey Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Lovely looking Bass. Surprised it's still here. GLWTS Quote
Hydra19 Posted September 7, 2022 Author Posted September 7, 2022 (edited) Bump, there's another bass i've got my eye on so i'm open to offers. Lovely high end nitro finished P bass for sale! Edited September 7, 2022 by Hydra19 Quote
LukeFRC Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Wow, I was clearing out my eBay watch list and came across this - hadn’t realised it hadn’t sold yet! Quote
Hydra19 Posted September 16, 2022 Author Posted September 16, 2022 Another bump, now £700 and I'll throw in a free set of rotosound flatwounds Quote
Jackopie1 Posted September 26, 2022 Posted September 26, 2022 Hi, Is this still for sale? And if so, what sort of profile/thickness is the neck? Thanks. Quote
Hydra19 Posted October 3, 2022 Author Posted October 3, 2022 It's still for sale, the neck is a little more round than a Fender PB bass, and feels great. 42mm nut so not too wide either. The neck is a C shape Quote
umcoo Posted November 1, 2022 Posted November 1, 2022 This is crazy cheap. Played a few Crew Maniac basses on a trip to Japan a few years back. They're great quality. I'd snap this up if I had some spare cash. Good luck with the sale Quote
Hydra19 Posted November 4, 2022 Author Posted November 4, 2022 Thanks, it does seem that Crews are only known by Les Paul fanatics as everyone mentioned they're not familiar with the brand. As far as I know, it was a special order for SoundHouse Music Shop in Japan and that most were made in the Momose factory. Quote
Hydra19 Posted November 22, 2022 Author Posted November 22, 2022 (edited) Bump, still here, probably will be forever but in case someone is looking for a blue P bass, there's one still here I've also got a new Edwards P bass in Olympic white that I wlll also be selling or trading, but I'll make a new thread title for that.
