Ringing E string

Recommended Posts

I treated myself to a Sire V7 (which is amazing by the way) from Thomann and picked it up from today. However when the E is played there is an echo-like sound coming from it. It does not matter if the string is fretted or not and does not decrease in intensity regardless of where I play on the neck.

Anyone have any ideas what the problem is or are there any known issues with Sire V7s? I'm still using the factory strings btw and nothing has been altered on the guitar. It's as it came from the factory.

Thanks in advance 🙂

Is it the same with the other strings muted?

Yes. Seems overly resonant if that makes sense compared to the others?

I've had a similar sound when playing with a fresh set of daddario chromes. Went away as the strings settled in. I've experienced this with 4 sets of the same string.

Try taking the string off and putting it on again making sure to push it down so it bends over the bridge nicely.

Check pickup height . If the clearance is too small it can produce a sound a bit like a chorus effect .

A loose tuning key? Hold the E tuning paddle when you play the string, see if that makes any difference.

I  have had a similar thing going on. Turned out to be a vibrating saddler screw would you believe!
